ok, so im working on a figure in poser-7...I import the obj, do my setup and save out the .cr2..no problems..except that Poser-7 doesnt save out a .obj file, like PoserProPack did.  I have looked in the settings and there is nothing there.  I tried exporting one manually but when I imported back in it was screwed up..and I cant simply reference the original .obj since Poser uses a retarded unit system and the object doesnt come in at the size I imported it at (make sense?).

Anyway, how do I tell Poser-7 to save out a .obj with the .cr2?

Thanx.

Poser 7should save an obj. with your cr2 in Runtime/libraries/character. It will be un-welded at the border of its parts, but it’s an obj. nonetheless.

You should always keep the original, welded version of your obj somewhere.

It is not saving a .obj at all

Save your figure to the 'Figures' library via the Content browser. After doing that, you can find both the cr2 and the obj. in the place I mentioned previously.

I am a bit familiar with how Poser [should] be saving...I know where to look for things, and it is NOT saving the .obj, I have looked through the entire Runtime folder, just in case it was saving somewhere else....Up to now, I've been using ProPack, which saved the .obj in the same folder as the .cr2.  The cr2's being generated by Poser-7 are looking for the object, but since it wasnt created, it cant find it.  Any ideas?

Check the cr2 and find the obj. that it's pointing to. Load a version of the obj. with that name into the same character folder as the cr2. See if the obj. will load.

As for the non-saving problem, I don't know. Test to see if you can save characters to the Figure library and if the objs. appear for those. If they do, Poser may have decided it doesn't like your obj. Strange things happen sometimes. If nothing saves, try a reinstall.

I have tried a few different ones and it's not saving .objs

I was able to manually save out the obj from poser, but shouldnt have to.

I just checked by resaving an old embedded figure.
P7 definitely behaves the same as earlier versions;
still separates out the OBJ and puts it in the same folder with the CR2.

If yours isn't doing that, there must be a problem with your
installation, perhaps a corrupted DLL or something.

Edit: Or maybe a problem with access to the folder?  If you're
using Vista and running into prohibited write-access, Poser
probably won't tell you about it.  Poser doesn't seem to give
any error messages for a "can't write" situation.... it just
quietly doesn't write.
