Subject: Antonia - Opinions?

shante ( ) posted Mon, 08 June 2009 at 2:01 PM

Jules;
That is nice. Painted or propped?
I have several pubic hair props for V2 and Stef1 but are a pain because they do not morph as needed. I am not sure why but I can not get them to adjust size for example to fit the old PT figure or  a modified Posette or M2 figure. Must be something to do with fitting to the character hip when propped. I have the DAZ Cool Coils hair that do the same darn thing when I first tried to fit the hait to the first MilBaby. I could not get to parent to the head without it disappearing into the skull and all the dialing in the world would nit put it where I wanted it on the top of the figure's head.

whereas V2 and M2 with their pubic hair props as part of the geometry work fantastic with the right textures and transmaps.
Just wondered if there was going to be something like that to work with Antonia.

Where can I find the V4 pubic hair prop? Hope it morphs properly to fit Antonia.

SF, I will do a set of make-ups in PNG format and everyone can use them on their chosen textures.
I've done that for the Vickies so Antonia deserves her own set. :)

Edited:
And while I'm thinking about it, can the hip area be used as a trans map so that just the pubic hair shows above the skin?
I've seen it done for V3 and V4.

Those pubic hair props can look very good. Quarker once did one for Miki and V3 and it looked pretty convincing (except in close up). I will look up an image with it so that you can get an idea.

makeups? png? I confess that I hoped that someone would do it so that I get at least an idea where to place and how to shape the eyeshadow and eyeliner. Thank you so much!!

To be honest, the one shown in the render is "borrowed" from Have's Tuyuko, unfortunately no longer available, and I use it whenever I need PH. As it is a prop its pretty easy to adjust it and smartprop it to each and every figure.

I have also a set of 6 different PH's for V4, done in an similar way but, I have no idea where I grabbed them.

I think, I'll create something like this for Antonia, will take some time but ...

While doing some work on the make-up psd, I started thinking (Ouch that hurt!) about something.

Would it also help if I do a set in psd format but in gray scale as masks?
Then they can be used as transmaps and you choose your color.

would that work?

I am not sure if that is possible!?.
I thought it needed an additional prop to do that?
But you can either do a pubic hair transmap for say a bikini or panty or you can find a pubic hair prop with transmapping and texturing already on it (as mentioned for V2/V3/V4) and use that (V2 & M2 had one as part of their geometry and though a great idea, I thought it was grossly under used by many of the content creators at the time).  And though I am not sure why it would be a problem doing so for Antonia (or any figure for that matter) it might be a nice addition to eventually make for her.

It would be cool to have one for Antonia as well as a single add-on morphing prop....even better with multiple layers like head hair for that additional density and thickness to make it look more realistic especially when the figure is rendered from the side.

JOELGLAINE ( ) posted Mon, 08 June 2009 at 3:24 PM

Wouldn't it be easy to just export Antonia's hip as an obj file and remove the poly you don't want and reimport as a prop. it'd have the same UVs as the original figure?

I am not a modeler but I know enough from being in this community (hypothetically mind  :)  ) to say that should be a way of doing it. But it would have to be adjusted a bit for depth wouldn't it? Afterall pubic hair rests pretty much on the surface of the pubis and the add-on prop would have to simulate that somehow....I would think.

Faery_Light ( ) posted Mon, 08 June 2009 at 3:31 PM

What I'm thinking is like the trans maps RNKarenER made for V3, Class Act I and II.

But then that wouldn't work on all textures...sigh

Hmmm, well if someone wanted, they could add color in Photo Shop or PSP.

obsidiandawn.com made a set of make-up brushes for Photo shop and you just used the color you wanted and that worked.

But I'm not good on making the brushes.

i'll do it both ways to give folks more options. :)

Setting up brushes from the png files should not be too hard. I have a nice resource here with lots of real (photgraphed) eyeshadows, most of them still for V4 -  what I always need is an idea of what shape to use to tweak them. Your makeup will be perfect for doing this!

would it be better to just set them up in a psd format so you can just load in the face map and makeup resources you want?

that way they are already in place and all you need do is tweak if you want or add as is.

Just my quick answer regarding the pubic hair prop: I've had a lot of trouble with those toe caps, and haven't yet resolved all the problems they caused. I still think the prospect of having perfectly fitting second-skin stockings for Antonia is worth my trouble. But I've been disencouraged from adding any more extra bits like that to the base geometry.

What's more, I'm not quite sure what the best solution for realistic pubic hair is, so I think it would be better to use a prop or even a conforming figure as an add-on that could easily be exchanged for whatever's most useful for the current render project, just like with head hair.

To answer the question "will she have": yes, most certainly she will have some kind of pubic hair eventually. I happen to like pubic hair and would love to have some options in that respect. So if no one else takes care of it, I will. Eventually...

In the meantime, like with head hair, people will probably make do with existing props. Conforming figures are obviously a bit more tricky, as - I think - they have to be re-rigged for each new figure to conform to. But props should be simple: load Antonia in the "zero" pose, adjust the scale, position and orientation of the prop, parent to the appropriate body part, save as smart prop. Maybe we can a collection of fitting poses for some popular props at some point.

Okay, I guess that wasn't that quick...

Here is a full frontal shot showing the pubic hair.

I've applied a displacement map to the face, lips, eyebrows and body as well as the bump mapping from vss.

If she had a pubic area like the Vickies, a displacement map would work to make the hair stand away from the body a bit.
But I don't know how to do it on Antonia other than a full body displacement.

BTW, Do you know how to get rid of pubic hair?

Naked!? Pretty!? Sexy!?
I like this new trend. All the more reason to create 3D models that as realistic as can be made just for that kind of rendering. I can admire a well cut naked man...there is a certain aesthetic to the form. Then again the female for, being a man myself, holds that softness and nature-given and earthy organic fecundity that I have always associated to beauty beyond the physical and almost embracing the spiritual.
Most of my renders, my old drawings and sculptures and my photography and what I have always fed my creative "Self" with has been constituted almost exclusively, by the human female form and any derivatives of it.

".....it is our INFINITY...the place we all come from, the place our minds and hearts dwell upon and that warm wet place we all strive to return to at journey's end. That is woman!"

If the "ritual" of worship is so old and beautiful and prestigious, then why does this item of worship, this iconographic art form, this aesthetic religion of the senses and emotions still, after so much has been said and done about it , or to it, still offend soooooo many darn people?
Janey Jackson's "accidentally" exposed tit on the tv, the "lewd" shenanigans of Brittany and other childish celebs causing raised brows and the foaming at the mouths of indignant media mavens during dinner time news broadcasts? Why the censorship of mens magazines in all newstands now(whose idea was it to cover these fibre and ink bastions of female pulcritude  on display for our collective ingestion?

Lets just enjoy the form and celebrate the source of life it represents. Cheer Brittany on to give us more and beg janet to show us the other breast. Right Joel, sorry!

I would love to see some additional ethnic face mts and parts adjustments (alien and animal head, big fey eyes and eye rotations,  nose size and adjustments, a variety of ear morphs (elf, animal. alien, in and out movements (for that Alfred E. Newman look) , longer lobe and lobe attached. Nose and lips adjustments too.

Phenomes are a nice quick addition that come in handy to get you close to a final look even if applied as a starting point to customize quickly. Old and young face with all the appropriate sags etc.

The obvious body morphs like:
individual toe adjustments and toenail lengths, foot arch poses, smaller toe poses,  longer fingernails. Alien body MTs (as extreme as we can get without tearing the mesh) I guess for variety, muscular or at least better toned body MTs., the required breast MT.s from flat to voluptuous and nipple/aereolae mts  (so we can make her look of all ages if needed and I would love to see breast MTs like those made by Posermatic...those are great!
Age body Mts from very young to very old with apropriate shape and height adjustments. Pregnant mts and short and fat /tall and skinny morphs too.

As far as textures:

I love what I have seen so far but we could include a dirty texture (grease monkey/mechanic, country urchin with muddy feet and shins, splashes on arms and face too (similar to the old Cherry 2000 and the old Dragonessa Tex by Syd Raven for V2. I love those and use them a lot even had a set converted for use with M2.
Alien and animal textures to go with the alien face and body mts!

I don't know if you all remember a sweet tex set created for V2 I think it was THE A to Z set sold at DAZ? It was great because it offered several textures with MAT poses and the lashes, upper brows and eye textures were set individually and looked beautifully more realistic.

Just to name a paltry few ideas!  :)
Well......you asked!  ;)

Well, this project is mainly run by odf and he is supported by about 10 other users. All are not professional 3D artists "only" part time artists.

If you look at the DAZ figures and the number of people working on them, this is a very small project but, for sure, the result will be a new figure with some new techniques for sure, if the package will be released to the public it will be worth at least 50 to 100 dollars, compared to other figures. The girls and guys working in this project love Antonia and, I'm pretty sure, Antonia will find her admirers in the 3D world. And, the support for a figure becomes better as more people use the figure.
