Gah! I closed the wrong tab and there is no autosave so I'm retyping a shorter version of this post. Please let me know if I left out valuable info.

I'm using PoserPro 7.0.4.220 on a AMD 64x2 4400+ Dual Core w/ 2.21 - GeForce 8800 GT video card. Win32 XP is my default boot but I also have Win64 XP. I have 4GB of memory installed which shows as 3.25GB under both winXP32 and 64.

I'm trying to understand if the Firefly 64 bit engine only runs when in win64 and how it works. When I look at my processes, I see "FFRender.exe *32" and only see one process even though I have my render process set to 2 or 4 "separate threads". Should I be seeing multiple instances of FFRender.exe?

Does Firefly take advantage of the dual core when in win32?

Is the 64 bit engine only avalible / in use when doing background renders in win64?

How do I tell that it is using the 64-bit version with multiple threads, and does it make a difference if I set my threads to 4 if I only have 2 CPUs?

I have scenes using backgrounds like this ( http://market.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/index.php?ViewProduct=51673&vendor=coflek-gnorg ) with the render options all the way to the right or manually raised which will take 20mins to 2 hours max at 300dpi, at 6.5" by 6.4". However, others using the Commander Deck ( http://www.daz3d.com/i/3d-models/air/commander?item=5594&cat=30&_m=d ) take 6+ hours. I'm looking for suggestions on how to decrease render time over all, but specifically the Commander ones.

I think I had more questions last time but this is what I need to know right now.

Thanks

You can see the number of threads by opening the task manager, choosing the "Processes" tab, selecting View | "Select Columns..." and ticking the "Thread Count" box.

You'll still get some benefit from the extra threads, but you should compare render times for 2, 3, and 4 threads to see how your machine copes.
