There is a quite vocal discussion(s) in the various Daz forums about whether Daz actually cares about Bryce and developing it any further..it might be nice if those of us who feel passionately about it put in their 2 cents/pennyworth.. :thumbupboth:

The Daz forums scare the hell out of me!

Bryce has had long and productive life span, but it is time for it to take a dirt nap. (ducks looks around and wonders where that large piece of comfy furniture came from)
"Reinstall Windows" is NOT a troubleshooting step.

That's the first and last time I ever go in there. Personally, anybody who can't get their naked Vicky to look the way they want deserves every thing they get.
@wildman 2. I wouldn't worry about the comfy chair. It's running the gauntlet of the angry mob once you get out of it, I'd be worried about. BTW, if Pakled offers you a throw pillow decline and duck. You will only be hit by 5 or 6. If you accept, they are inbound for your entire time in the chair.

So get over there, folks, and support Bryce.
You shouldn't even have to think twice about it if you truly give a toss.
Incognitas posted Mon, 03 November 2008 at 8:21 AM
Hey no one has to go there. But as Daz have the say on where Bryce goes next developmentally it might be as well to register what you do or do NOT want to happen because horror of hoorors now they have Carrara they may decide to abandon Bryce altogether......
pumeco posted Mon, 03 November 2008 at 8:34 AM
Perhaps, but we also need to remember that the longer they hold back on development, the less likely it becomes that Bryce will ever bounce back. Sorry if I came accross a bit abrupt, I didn't mean to, but I meant what I said. If Brycers really do give a toss about Bryce, then the least it deserves is a little support from it's users in that thread started by Rashad over at the DAZ Commons.
DAZ indeed hold the keys to it's future, and although it's unlikely we users would make a difference to their plans, it doesn't cost us a thing to support it on the offchance it just might make a difference.

E'one could write directly to Daz....they are much nicer to deal with than the forums and if they start getting emails directly maybe they will pay more attention..
They also have a toll free telephone number.... available on their website. :m_bouncy:

I'll never forgive Corel/DAZ what they done to Bryce... :-|
They refused to make any serious improvements during these years (unlike e-on/vue); they are just "fooling around"selling the same thing with higher version marks...yaaawn. :-)

Personally, I think it's what they haven't done that is the problem

Welllllll.........
I can't really be arsed (sorry to any non-Brits/Ausssies to whom the phrase "arsed" means nothing) to read a forum organised/run by the people who currently own our beloved Bryce and whose commercial aspirations are plain for all to see - I don't blame them, they've got bills to pay and families to provide for, like everyone else.....I suspect that I could take a fairly accurate stab at 90% of what's written there anyway. If you honestly believe that Daz will take notice of your opinion of what should/should not be in Bryce if/when they ever update/repackage/sell it, then I wish you well. Maybe the moon is made of green cheese and the fairies come in and defrag my disks at night.
To the best of my recollection, I've been using the sacred app since oohhh....let's see....1996? 1997? I know I had Windows 95 at the time I installed it from a cover disk on "Computer Arts", which featured an article on Kai Krause. I wonder how many Bryce users here in 2008 even know who Kai Krause is....
I've seen Bryce come, and I've seen Bryce go; I once had more than a year without it installed, I've seen me seriously distracted at work, thinking "I could be Bryceing right now"; I've seen me spend literally all night getting a render just right...I've had it crash at the drop of a hat, I've had it stun me with it's capabilities. I've always been fairly happy with it as an app, as I've never had the money to lay out on something with all the bells and whistles. It's still my favourite renderer. Sure, you can't use it to model much more than a shiny sphere over water- so buy a $1000 dollar app instead - it doesn't have Ecosystems - who cares, it costs pennies - what it does have is a fantastically intuitive interface, the ability to conjure magic out of thin air and the power to fire up/reflect your imagination in a way no other app I know of can - I've used Zbrush, Poser, Lightwave, Vue, 3DS Max and Mojoworld and can say that Bryce outstrips them all, pound for pound/dollar for dollar for ease of use and sheer visual impact.
Ladies and gentlemen, please be upstanding for Bryce - a fine old gent.

Thank God that E-onsoft "stole" the Bryce layout idea, hehe...so that we, Bryce refugees, can continue creating impressive landscapes using advanced render options and instancing among others...without Bryce I would NEVER have started landscaping! :-)

For those that haven't seen it Dan Farr has responded over at the Bryce DAZ forums (page 2 and 3). Not good news but not bad news either.Eugenius posted Mon, 17 November 2008 at 6:16 PM
Hey Dan, thanks for the link. It's nice to see that the Bryce community is still very strong and alive, despite the many challenges we have all faced. From Metacreations selling off it's 3D programs, via Corel and their lack of customer service, to Daz.
It would be interesting to see what Daz decides in 2009.
Peace.
