When I tried to buy something at bbay, there were a couple different options for payment. One way you place your order and they e-mail you with information on how to pay by PayPal or check or moneyorder. I didn't get that far as I use an AMEX for on-line purchases and you can't use AMEX with PayPal.
The other method has something to do with snail-mailing or faxing a form and scanning both sides of your credit card. Um...huh? I understand they are trying to protect themselvs against credit card fraud but why can't they use CyberCash or some other standard e-commerce software with address verification?
Oops...just trying to answer Helen's question and it turned into a mini-rant...sorry 'bout that.
Helen posted Wed, 18 April 2001 at 4:04 PM
Thats what I thought I saw... Whew in a way thats a relief.. Thought I was seeing things.. But it still doesn't help those of us who don't have credit cards.. You can't scan LOL what you don't have... Oh well back to the drawing board.

No, there is a way to pay by check or money order. If you go through the ordering process you should see it. I'm not sure what the exact specifics are because they e-mail you that information.
BTW, this won't help you with Bbay, but if you have a 7-eleven in your area, they have these Internet Shopping Cards. You give the 7-11 clerk cash, anywhere from $25 to $1000 and they give you an AMEX card that works at any online store that takes AMEX with that amount of money on it (minus the 4% fee they charge). It's a very secure way to make on-line purchases because after you've spent the money, there's no credit that anyone who may have gotten a hold of your credit card number can spend. I can confirm that you can use it with no hassle at DAZ or here at the Rendo Marketplace.
Hope this helps.

I would try calling the mian office and talking to Sheryl. She will help you out! She is great! Such a nice person.:-) I am sure you can order without a credit card somehow.

Since I can officially answer these questions ;) To place a offline order, go to BBay, get a username and password (fill out the info), put the items you want in the cart, check out and place an offline order. You will recieve an email with the order total and instructions on where to send a money order or check (also the payapl info) To become verified the easiest way is to do the above (if you want to place an order) and then call us at the phone # provided in the email and verify your cc info. It takes but a few miniutes, and you only have to do it once. After that you can use your credit card online and get automatic downloads. -Trav

Helen: Yes, as long as the MO or check is in US funds. -Trav

<<> Sorry, but that is wrong. I have one of those blasted cards, put a lot of cash in it, too... and found only -one- internet store so far that accepted the card! That was Electronics Boutique. All of the others say, sorry, invalid card, invalid name... And I am stuck with this piece of plastic and can't get my money out of it.

hmatienzo, are you refering to the 7-11 internet card? I know for a fact that it works fine at any on-line store that takes AMEX.
Online Stores I've verified:
DAZ
Renderosity Marketplace
buy.com
PCConnection.com
taxcut.com
Apple.com

JKeller...really? It's not that I don't believe you, just that I tried BBay, R'osity and Daz, and all of them didn't accept the card. It's the 7-11 AmEx, with pre-paid funds, yes. I called Daz, and they told me they didn't see that as "real" cc? Odd... :-(

Yes, really. AMEX treats the card like a real CC when it is charged. If you're having trouble you might want to call the customer service number on the card or check the FAQ I linked. I had trouble once at one place because it wasn't accepting the expiration date I put in (you're supposed to use the current month/year) so I just put in the following month for the exp date and it went through. You can also call theri 1-800 number to check to make sure you have enough pre-paid on the card to cover the charge.BTW, I don't work for and I'm not trying to advertise 7-11 or AMEX here, just trying to help.
ookami posted Wed, 18 April 2001 at 7:46 PM
Sure JKeller... we all know you are really writing these posts from behind the counter of a 7-11! =) It's funny... but I've never heard of these type of cards. It's pretty cool, because they would make great gifts! Thanks for the heads up! Will they work in regular stores? Or just on the internet?
hauksdottir posted Wed, 18 April 2001 at 7:50 PM
I was nervous about doing the credit card thing online and couldn't print out the form, so called Sheryl at BBay and got signed up over the phone, stuff ordered, and in my mailbox about an hour later, if that. :) Now that I'm signed up, I can just wave the credit card at them. Too easy. It would take longer mailing a check, but if it is in US funds there shouldn't be any problem no matter where in the world you live. Just call Sheryl (she's nice) and get set up. Maybe I've been extra-selective, but everything I have bought there has been top quality... just wish I could afford more models! Carolly

JKeller... thanks for the tip, I'll call them in the morning and complain a bit. At least now I have something to go on. :-) Heike

I usually pay by ppal or Amex and got the items right away. It used to be a problem but no more. Also the complete team overthere are very nice to answer you very fast and with the right answer. It only costs $15 for a year and you get 52 items and now 104 items because they give two per week. In the last month, they were worth the money for sure. Thanks BBAY

Yes, I agree. Thank you BBAY! I just joined when somebody said they got a Goblin, hehehe. What a deal. Now my Trolls and Goblins can fight :)
