I'm not sure but I think it looks like one from Penta called Jeans.

hope this helps

that filter only adds a texture over the image

i want the filter that modifies the picture to make the light areas of my photgraph to be fat lines, the medium areas to be thin lines and the dark areas to be left out -- like the face in my pic

;0)

Thats not a filter, its one of the halftone screen paterns you can apply when you convert to bitmap.

First change your image to greyscale, then the bitmap option becomes available.

Then change to bitmap and you will get this dialog.
change the method to halftone... and OK

That will get you to the halftone dialog...

You will have to experiment with the frequency and angle but the shape has to be set to line.

Its also worth playing with the contrast and brightness on the greyscale before you convert to bitmap.

Here's a couple of things you might look into:

http://verlagmartinkoch.at/software/halftonepatterns/index.html

http://www.mways.co.uk/prog/plugin.php

Once in a while I look around,
I see a sound
and try to write it down
Sometimes they come out very soft
Tinkling light sound
The Sun comes up again

Attached Link: http://www.panopticum.com/products_ps.shtml

Can also be done using Panopticum Engraver and some postwork.
