Hello,
has anyone ever seen some  brushes for Photoshop with soviet/communist propaganda motifs out there? (could be free or commercial).

I mean brushes with the soviet star, Lenin, Stalin, tanks, helmets and signs of the red army, mariners of the cruiser "Aurora", the hat of Budjonny, the face of Leonid Breshnev and other stuff like this.

... but please pay attention, when you look deep inside the archives of the KGB...

thank you!

For beginners, I could be wrong, but I believe the former Soviet Union broke up before Adobe Photoshop became commercially available. So, if you are looking for a plug in for the Brush Tool, it was never made.

However, if you are looking for images of logos, those could be created in Photoshop, or a number of other applications as well. If you'll Google some images maybe we could show you how to make them.

You might also look for fonts that contain the imagery you seek, load them one character at a time, and create your own SovietBrushSet.. ...

Once in a while I look around,
I see a sound
and try to write it down
Sometimes they come out very soft
Tinkling light sound

thank you all.

@**cryptojoe: **the soviet union does not longer exist? strange news, indeed. could this be the reason, why the iron curtain does not longer divide my country in two parts? tomorrow or so I will buy a newsletter.

here at ReRo, many brushes are sold, for example gothic and tombstones and all you need.
the soviet propaganda brushes are - like other "communist stuff" too - not only good as tattoos for all the veterans of the CPUSA, but also very hip to accessorise some images or clothing too.

@ bobbystahr: yes, good idea, thank you. I will take a look at such fonts.

There's some on DeviantArt here:  http://xxxnitewingxxx.deviantart.com/art/Soviet-Retro-Brushset-CS3-77722854 there's only a small sample shown but it says there are 70 brushes in the pack so maybe you'd find what you're looking for in there...

holger, glad to know there were some soviet brushes there.
he earliest copyright date for photoshop AFAIK was 1989,
but unfortunately the soviets are reconstituting their union by absorbing
former satellite states on the border of russia.

that's right.
but imagine, that the USA would have been collapsed (maybe after another finance crash...) and only a fistfull of states would remain. the rest would be independent states with different governments and leading religions and so on. and after some years the remaining union would try to bring one by one these states again back in the union. many of the us-citizens would say "this is okay". it is not soo logn ago, the USA where divided into two big counterparts, clashing in a horrible civil war.
and today many russians say: yes, the other states of the former soviet union belong still to us. you can't clean all the years of the soviet-history. they had so many years no democracy and the soviet union was the other big player for so many years too, you cannot hope, that they are true democrats overnight and give up their dreams to be that important nation again.
wonder how the western part of my own nation could. without the marshall-plan, they surely could not. the soviets had no such help) .
I don't want to excuse the things the russian government is doing, but I just try to understand the motivation as good as I can.

Another great ressource is the collection of soviet/chinese/communist propagandaposters by Petr:
posters.nce.buttobi.net/

Really worth to take a look at. If you feel a deeper interest, contact Petr himself, he is a very friendly person and will help you, if you have some questions or interestes to buy some of his items.
