You know... it bugs me.
Take the last coupon for instance.
20% off -- sounds great. Until you realize you have to spend $50 to qualify.
Which means for most of us, we never ever "Save" anything here, at least not with those coupons.
That wasn't the only one. Usually it's a saving on anything over $25 or $30 or something.
It just annoys me, because right now, $50 is a LOT of money for people.
Had that been $25, many might have spent that. But not $50. So instead of buying anything, I will just sit on my cart again until eventually I end up dumping the cart and not buying anything at all.
Then there is the duration of those coupons.
I received that "Gobble" email on the 3rd. The coupon was valid until the 6th November.
3 days.
That's ridiculous.
Sorry.
I'd bet if there were more offers -- decent ones, not that $50 one -- people would buy more often to take advantage of a saving.
Do smaller amounts, more often, with a longer duration, to give people a chance to use the stuff and buy something they really want, then do the same a month later, so they can pick up something else a bit cheaper. They might stick something else in the cart alongside it...
Seriously, I think Rendo needs to look at how this is done, because as it is... meh.
It's coming up to Christmas soon. Money is already tight, and many are tightening their belt even more. Having to spend $50 to "Save" anything is for many people simply not justifiable. So they really save -- and don't buy anything, instead.
Or they go elsewhere.

That's why I almost never use any coupons at all here.. that, and usually whatever I want to purchase is excluded from and coupon discounts.
Two big reasons why daz usually gets my poser content money.
The only things I buy here are utilites available no where else.

Yes, $50.00 is too steep for my blood.
I do appreciate their effort, but I don't really like or often use coupons with a minimum purchase requirement. To me saving $4.00 or something on a purchase is just not worth me spending the extra money. Now give me a no minimum 25 or 30 percent off like they did a couple times in the last year, and I'll purchase if I have the money to.
I only get paid once a month, so most of the time the coupons that are sent out are useless to me because they usually come near the end of the month and expire before the end of the month when I don't have any money to spend.
I went through my wish list a couple weeks ago and deleted 90 percent of it. I think all that I have in there now is on one page.

I miss the ones from last year which were for $5. Period. I just looked around for some good $5 items. Granted, now, I'd buy much more than that... but still.. :>

I thought that was really nice too. A little customer appreciation goes a LONG way for me. I think one time I just got something for 5 bucks when they gave that, and another time I probably spent 40 or so when I got the coupon.
To me it would make more marketing sense here to vendors and consumers for Rendo to give more of this type of coupon out and have a little better policy on putting things in the "clearance" section. To counter the argument that there is just so much content here that they have to put things on clearance:
*require testers to actually earn that pay and stop passing crap
*implement some standard of quality and originality.
I'm not sure that marketing is the strong suit of any of the ptb. Not to derail the thread but I'm of the opinion that it is all linked.

I keep looking for good sales where I can buy more than 1 item at a time here but that never happens and some vendors never put anything on sale at all so it sits in my list... and sits and sits. I spend way more at daz because lower prices makes me thing I am spending less, what an odd but smart marketing tactic.

LOL... same here.
To be honest, when I saw the coupon attached to a $50 minimum purchase, first thing I thought was, "What happened to the $25 minimum??" Only once in a blue moon have I ever spent that total in one go on 3d content.

If the minimum is $5, it would be very nice.
kuroyume0161 posted Sun, 16 November 2008 at 8:33 PM
The percentage discount with minimum purchase hurts them I think. I have a hard time rationalizing a purchase of so much just for so much discount unless the opportunity already exists - and that is rare. I have to have the funds, the desired products, and be within the timeframe of the coupon all harmoniously coincidental to put it into use. Unfortunately, the amount of stuff which is desired isn't there at all. If I see something new that is desired, I'll purchase it right off (if a coupon covers it, all the better).
Rendo really should consider more varied sales like Daz. At Daz, inevitably, whatever you're looking to purchase is on sale some time - and all the better with the PC membership.

Wow, lots of voices. :)
I think Rendo needs to take a close look at their coupon thingy, since it seems I'm not the only one who backs out of the cart, even with a coupon available, because I can't justify $25+ just to "save" money. (False economy, IMO)
If I have to spend double the amount I plan to spend, just to use a voucher, then 9 times out of 10 -- I don't spend at all, not even half.
Yeah, it gets me to look around at what I might like, but while I will drop $50 with a % sale where there is no minimum purchase, I will not if I have to go over a certain amount -- that's just not how I shop. If it's $25 minimum, and your order comes to $24.99, then chances are you're not going to spend that money, because the minimum price here is $5 -- and to get, lets say a 10% discount, by having to add to the $24.99 and raising it to $29.99 -- you've just spent $2 more, to get a $3 discount. Yanno?

Last week I finally used a discount coupon, because my purchase was slightly over $25.
But it was the FIRST time in years, and just for a lucky coincidence. My average monthly expense is around $10 or $12, and I would seriously appreciate coupons targeted to this range. Maybe just "light" coupons, i.e. 10% discount, but at least it would be something.
As for now, 90% of discount coupons are wasted for me.

Well for what it's worth I can't afford to use the cuopons either. Ever. Guess thats what I get for being poor as dirt.
I"ve said it before and I'll say it again! I'd like to see a "Club" type deal here at rendo myself. I'd be more than happy to shill out a few bucks every month to get a discount/voucher deal here at Rendo. Infact I'd prefer it over the alternative.

I no sooner read this than the notice appeared in my e-mail.
I never realised that GCs could be in My Account.
I discovered that i missed out on 2 other GCs because I never checked there until today.
PS Gary, already had my item in the Cart, took maybe 2 minuts to spend it.

I have some extra money at the end of this month so I'll use it then and pick up a couple other things that I've been wanting too.
I do like those no strings attached discounts, even if they are only $5.00 here and there. They are very much appreciated.

I spent the 5$ GC (it is not a coupon) last night and I would have never known about it unless this thread was pointed out to me. I have nothing against Renderosity but their marketing skills need some help.
I have a suggestion to the staff at Renderosity when giving every a GC you should send more than just an email you should also have posted a sticky in all the forums about it so members know they have one. I missed out on the last 2 years cause I never got an email and no one told me.
Here is another novel idea, maybe Renderosity should start a payback program like Daz has. There are products I would by here, but I can find close to items at other stores for cheaper. If Rendo started giving back a little more, maybe I would spend more here.

How about something more noticeable? Maybe make it bigger or a brighter color so it does not blend in with the rest of the writing on the site.
