I don't know how to transfer my DAZ program and all of its files to an external hard drive. Could somebody please tell me how to do this? I need step by step instructions, otherwise I'll get confused...lol. Thanks a lot. :)

To move it to an external drive for use on the same machine, just move the folder holding the application (e.g. the Studio folder in C:Program FilesDAZ) and in Edit>preferences>Directories change the paths for the DAZ Studio and Poser content directories that have moved.

If you want to make a stand-alone (except for content directory listing and serial number) version, you need to add the daz*.dll and dz*..dll files from WindowsSystem32 (or the matching .dylib files n the Mac, I never can remember where they live) to the folder on the external drive.

I'm kind of confused...can I just drag and drop ALL the files from my computer into the hard drive?

Yes. Though as I said, you will need to update the list of content directories.

How exactly do you "update" that list? Sorry, I'm really inept when it comes to this kind of stuff..lol. Dumb it down for me if you can... :) If that's already dumbed down, then I guess I'm just SOL! Haha.

If you move the content folder(s) you are using you need to go to Edit>Preferences>Directories

When you open that tab you will see the list of DAZ Studio content folders, if any - assuming there's one there, and it's on the wrong drive now, highlight it and click remove. Now click Add and select the new location (for a DS folder you want the folder that contains the Data and Runtiem folders).

Now, near the top of the dialogue, just under the row of tabs, there's a long button labelled DAZ Studio content directories: click that and select Poser content directories from the menu. Again, you should see a list of folders with at least one entry (the Content folder in the original DAZ Studio folder). For any that have been moved, highlight, click Remove; then click Add and select the new location of the folder (you want the folder that holds the Runtime folder). Click Accept and that should be it.
