I always unpack my downloads ( clothes, figures, hair) to the Runtime folder. But then I can't open or find them.
Where exactly do I have to unpack the files to?

Depends on how the zip was packed. The "standard" is to have the Poser folder as the root. If this is the case one should unpack to the Poser folder, or if a remote runtime then the directory immediately above runtime.
For a tutorial on how to pack zip files for Poser see:-

Hope this helps.

that's true. In a perfect world, they would. However, over the years, I have, for example, a character, characters, and charakter folder in libraries from that...;)
granted, this may not work for everyone, but it works for me (I am not smart...;)
Create a special directory or folder (I use one off the root called Temp*....real* imaginative...;)
Unzip everything to that. (say, C:temp)
using each created folder (such as !!!Me_First!Poser7RuntimeLibrariesPropsPick_ME!..;)
just copy the Props part into your regular Runtime (or whichever additional one you're using).
and you're fine. (that is, it would go into, say Program FilesCurious LabsPoser 5RuntimeLibrariesProps) I know, it's dating myself, but how else would I get lucky?...;)
It's tedious, but it's fixed a lot of stuff that didn't load before.
The real experts edit some files with a text editor and rediret paths, but I'm not solid enough on that (and it sounds even more tedious..;) to expound on that...;)
