Ok, I went through Philc's Videos on Youtube and the Tuts at Poserpronet, and I thought I did it right, but when I come out of the setup room, there are no bend, rotate, or twist dials.  Clearly I'm doing something wrong,  but I have no idea what.  The screen shot shows what I ended uo with,  It did create the named body parts, which match my groups, but as for the rest, I need help!

I see the rotate dials in your screenshot (xRotate, yRotate and zRotate).  As for Bend and Twist dials they are just  rotate dials renamed to be to make them more meaningful.  For example rotateX for a leg part might be renamed bend, while rotateY would be renamed twist and rotateZ would be side-side. 

You can rename dials by double clicking on the dial's name and then changing the name in the Dial Parameters box.

One problem I do see is the xTrans is being used making the child part move away from its parent.
