I have been using Poser for awhile and more recently have been doing some modeling from scratch in Carrara. I also have Bryce 6 but have not used it much. Most of the projects I work on are animations.
I am starting a new project that was looking for some ideas/content for reception hall. In the process I came across the Great Hall Master Series tutorial, I am very much interested in creating more of my own content and since I have Bryce I would like to learn how to use it. So thought that might make for both a good learning and productive project to go through the particular tutorial.
The tutorial is not that expensive, but I have purchased my share of "duds" which over time add up. So I was just wondering if anyone can provide me any feedback concerning the Bryce Master Series tutorials? I noticed it was created for Bryce 5 and I'm also wondering if it will translate to Bryce 6 without too much trouble.
Thanks.

Anything by Rochr will be a valuable learning process for you. He's one of the best IMHO and it would be money well spent.. ...

I created the cloud city version. I'm not sure if the great halls is the same, but the way mine worked was to show how to create each model, apply textures, set the environment up etc from start to finish.. I'm sure that Rochrs version was just the same as we all had a directive from DAZ to follow. Also Rochr has provided tutorials for a number of magazines in the past, so you get an idea of the quality of his work.

While I think about it, this isn't a plug so we earn more commision because daz owns the rights to the tutorial. We were paid a one off fee to do them.

Thanks for that information guys! And even if you were earning a commission, the fact you took the time to answer my post shows me that your tutorials are written by someone with a willingness to help others, so I wouldn't mind that at all :)

If you did decide to purchase one of the tutorials, I'd suggest grasping the basics of bryce from the range of tutorials that can be found for free first. Going from what I included in my tutorial, you would need a basic grasp of how the boolean function works as this is one area that needs to be understood before tackling any type of modelling in Bryce.

Is there a specific or a couple of tutorials that might be considered Bryce 101?

Not that I can recall. I used to follow any I could get my hands on. Sadly a lot of the original tutorials have vanished over time.
Brycetech has a lot of decent tutorials which are easy to follow. Heres a link for the ones concerning boolean. Other than that try here, 3dcommune, or google.

I haven't been around much nor have i done anything in bryce for sometime, health reasons putting a hold on that and other things.
I have both the great hall and the cloud city. even though using the tutorials with them can be of help i find by saving the main .br file from either one to my desk top and then while having them in bryce i can pull them a part and learn how the great masters build things...
well thats one way i do it to learn things, but for now until my health is better only thing i can do is have a quick visit to the forums, read or reply to posts..
Hope all had a great christmast and have a happy new year.
