I posted a bunch of writing contests (7 in all) on my blog tonight, but this one looked particularly juicy. **The Jim Baen Memorial Writing Contest**

Looking for near future science fiction. Looks like a sweet deal to me.
Deadline: 1 April, 2009
Fee: Free
Awards: paid at the normal paying rates for professional story submittals plus publication in Jim Baen's Universe
Restrictions: 8000 word limit.
Website: http://williamledbetter.com/contest
This is a real publisher folks.

Your are most welcome. I'm working on a new story for it now. Best of luck on yours. I'll cross my fingers for you if you cross your fingers for me. :)

LOL

fingers are crossed, though my money is on you, in this genre my writing is mostly metaphysical....wish I could say it is Serling-esque [he and Kafka are my favs]

at this time I am doing 2 psychology courses, a math [required]   :(     and a writing course....just tidying up required courses before I start my Master's....can't wait. I'm thinking to take assignments and blend them with challenges/contests, kill two birds with one stone, so to speak.

good luck or what ever the writer's equivalent of 'break a leg' is.
