The Four Elements
Using any version of Bryce, create an image portraying any or all of the four elements... Earth, Air, Fire and Water. The image can be in any style you wish...an abstract depicting the swirling motion of wind, a scifi scene of a planetary landscape dotted with fiery lava fields, a realistic scene with rain clouds over a windswept lake...the sky's the limit,as long as the main emphasis is on the elements!
Now the rules...
2.Postwork is allowed, but it must not be the main part of the image. Colour and contrast correction,touch-ups and signature,or effects that would otherwise eat up processing time are okay...but no overworking with filters etc.
3.As an extra challenge for those who wish to take it on...try customizing some area of Bryce in creating your image...change the sky or cloud colours, combine textures for your terrains,or use one area of Bryce to texture another(use a terrain texture to texture a tree trunk for example). If you do customize something, state in your description what it was and what you did to achieve it...that way we all learn something new as well as have fun!
**
**Well, what do you think...are you up to the challenge?
The deadline for this challenge will be February 28th at 12pm rosity time, unless Grafikeer states another preference. This is because it has taken me so long to get the pages together.
The challenge page is here: Bryce Challenge Page but I'm still working on the upload pages so please bear with me.
Thanks go to Grafikeer for this Challenge Theme.
Good luck to everyone!

What are you meant to put in the 'File' box?
TheBryster posted Tue, 03 February 2009 at 8:33 AM Forum Moderator
Theseus88bc: That would be if the contest required you to upload a scene file (*.br6)
In this case, you don't need to worry about it.

Helos, no, no prizes as such. Just the eternal admiration of your peers and the right to set the next challenge. Oh! And a really cool logo to place of your website, your sig, or anywhere that takes your fancy really.

I have uploaded the image for the challenge, and then obtain a mesagge "You must attach a file to this contest", but the br6 is not necessary, is it ?

You are right, Jrce. Not sure why you are getting that message.

Jrce: It's gone. You should be able to upload your entry now without it asking for a file.

I uploaded a pic and a thumbnail, and got a message that the files were too large, and the entry was being saved without the files. I edited the pic and thumbnail to the contest specifications, and tried to upload them. I got a message that I had entered the contest already and could not enter again. So, where do I stand? Do you have the text that accompanied the pics, without the pics? Is my entry going to consist of text only? Have the pics actually been saved too, and waiting for you to resize them? Sorry for the confusion. This is my first attempt at entering a contest, and I guess I'm woefully uninformed as to proper procedure. Thanx for any help and or assistance you can provide.

BerdacheBear: I've deleted your entry so you can try again. You have site-mail. The text was there without any images fyi.

The approval process takes about 2 seconds after I get notification that there are pics that need approving. I do check everyday. But the missus and I are down with a bug and I am trying hard not to throw-up all over my pc.
Your entry has been approved, Weez.
Get those entries in, Guys. You don't have much time left.

Yer "hair hurts" cuz yer helmet's keepin' all those "ills" and "aches" from escaping (like heat) thru the top o' yer haid -- they're collectin' on yer hair. ;D

Got it. Duhhhh. Thanx, Weez. See although yer helmet is holdin' thingz in (like ills and aches), at least it duzn't keep thingz out (like dumb ?s). Maybe I need a helmet -- then the few things I do learn about computers won't go flying away seconds after I learn 'em. ;D
