Spent the last 2 days getting VUE 7 Espirit installed and my VUE 6 Espirit content transfered. Now, the problem is this- using just the default settings, I set my first picture to rend to disk- saving it in the "My Picturtes" file like I laways did with #6. But instead of a picture, all I got was a black square- no image at all.
Does anyone have any idea what I might have forgotten to set or pick?
After 2 days of wrestling with this thing, I'd really appreciate any help.

Does the preview of this picture render well on screen?

Assuming it could be a memory problem with your render to disk, have you tried to render to disk a smaller rez version of that same image?

I have VUE 7 .20-04 .
I use Windows XP with 4 GB of memory installed on a Dell inspiron 531. The image renders fine in Preview, but I still get a black square when I try to render it to disk. In the render options, I checked Final, internal renderer, render to disk, under those options, I gave it a title and set it to save to "My Pictures" folder, I then skipped over to picture size and resolution, where I set it for Academy standard Flat [37:20], 900 X486 and a DPI setting of 300.
These are the same settings I used in VUE 6 Espirit and they worked fine.  I'm forgetting to set something- but I don't know what.

Everything seems fine.
Anyway, with such low resolution (900x486, if I understand correctly) why are you rendering to disk? A render to screen should work fine and it has the advantage that you see the render as it progresses and so you can do an early detection of problems. Normally, the render to file is used for very large image sizes.

For me that's large enough  and it still lets me reduce size if i need to for my graphic novel work.
So if everything's fine, why am I not getting a picture? Would a larger size make a difference?

Changed the settings so it would render to screen- and it did that fine. But I can't figure out why it won't render to disk.

If the same file renders fine to screen and not to file, this could be a bug. I suggest that you submit this to e-on.

I did- yesterday. I'm still waiting for a reply. I've heard about some patches that were released for the other 7's - Infinate and Pro- but I haven't seen or heard about any for Espirit.

I started a thread on eon's forums- "Dark Screen". I've also filed an e-mail - what they call a "ticket" with their tech support. But it'll be sometime tomarrow before they answer it.
