Doesn't someone have something that naturally spreads the butt for whatever angle of bend?
IsaoShi posted Sat, 24 January 2009 at 4:41 PM
Great render. Superb POV. Fantastic lighting.
Oops, sorry.... I'm in the wrong place. :O)
Seriously though, V4's butt does get a bit unrealistic at extreme bends - it's one of the joys of working with polygon people. A couple of random thoughts...
Have you got "Use limits" set on the figure?
What body parts did you bend to get this position? It looks to me as if you have backwards bend on the abdomen and forwards bend on the thighs. Plus a doggy camera angle.
Err... Dodgy, I meant dodgy.

V4's not all that anatomically correct. Especially in that area.

;)
wonders how long the last pic is allowed to stay up.. then again.. it's a woman, not a gasp nude MAN.. so perhaps...
BTW from the side it looks fine to me. I can see the problem in the first pic, but - depending on the purpose of the picture - you might be able to get around it by simpy choosing one of the angles where the deformation isn't all that obvious :) - that's what I usually do :)

Ah yes... Vicky just doesn't know what to do with her cheeks when she rotates her thighs so much. This is normal, I'm afraid.
You did not show the amount of abdomen bend with respect to the hip. The only thing I can suggest (without getting into custom morphs) is to reduce the arch in her back a bit, which would permit a lower thigh rotation for more or less the same overall position, and perhaps reduce the size of her bum for this pose, using the Morphs++.
The only really relevant values are the Bend of Thighs and Abdomen.

I usually turn down V4's buttsize in this case, because V4 butt grows enourmously when she bents over, but you'll need the V4++ moprhs to do that.

Diogenes posted Sat, 24 January 2009 at 8:05 PM
It's a new model Antonia by odf, she just bends that way naturally. She'll be available soon.
She's going to be free!
For V4 there's not much you can do except to morph her or rerigg her.
dphoadley posted Sat, 24 January 2009 at 9:19 PM
Just on a historical note, Posette used to have this very same problem. There was a special freebie magnet created to fix it. This is also one to the reasons why a separate buttocks group was inserted between the hips and the thighs starting with Eve, and then copied over to Vicky 2 and 3. V4 is in fact a retrograde back to Posette as fas as rigging is concerned, so therefore has reinherited Posette's problems.

Why would Daz reintroduce a problem like that on purpose?
IMO she could probably also use a pair of breast groups as well because the movement morphs aren't all that great.

As far as breasts groups are concerned, V4 is also retrograde. Including the breasts in the collar groups was part of the Eve development of Posette. When The Eve Posette moved her collar up and down, the respective breasts moved with them. When zygote introduced their Vicky 1 & 2, she copied Eve's inverted T chest, but without the ability to move the breasts in tandem with the collars. This didn't happen until Vicky 3, with her much greater mesh density.

Daz probably won't acknowledge that people uyse their models for .. looking for lost contacts.. sort of poses...
Phantom3D - that new model looks amazing! Do you know if there'll eventually be a male counterpart? As M4 is bound to have the exaxt same problems as V4 and he might lose a contact, too...

Hi, yes there is a male coming out pretty soon too with pretty much the same rig, I still have a bit of work to do on his mesh and still all of the JCM's to do, but here's a pic:
Oh ya I forgot to mention Antonia only uses about 36,000 poly's too so very light on the resources.

The top two renders show the improvement from the rear without detrimental effects to the side view. My pose is also less extreme which also had an effect.
Neither competes with phanton3d's examples.
The render on the bottom, pardon the pun, shows that reducing the glutes as on the left hand figure, does ruin her arse in a less extreme position!

Well there is the W.I.P there in my signature, an old one not done yet, sorry. But I have done alot more work since then and will post an updated Brad next week (probably Friday). Will keep posting updates till he's done.
Sorry about posting in this thread, it's supposed to be about a better V4. Say that reminds me I do also have a partially rerigged V4 that does not have the butt problem.
@
gibby.g: That does look alot better, I recently saw that addon for V4 mentioned earlier and looks like it really does work for the butt problem.
@Silke: Hi, Silke, how's it? I will send you that particular old version of brad in the pic if you want it? SM me.
TrekkieGrrrl posted Sun, 25 January 2009 at 7:42 PM
Ooh he's called Brad is he?
Apart from the strangely lumpy feet he looks VERY nice! I hope he'll get the support he deserves.. That's actually the biggest problem with non-Daz characters.. no matter if they're superior in rigging ect.. if there's no support for them, they'll die :(

Ya his feet were terrible but better now, still not right though for some reason feet are harder than faces. I've often heard that about getting support, I can make everything myself if I must. Plus while it would be nice if people wanted to make things for him, I don't expect anyone will. I plan to finish the model in any case and then I'm moving on to Second life, been checking it out and there is a much larger base there, more money for basically easily made products. It's funny though the name of this thread OMG! those were almost my exact words when I first started using Poser and bent one of the models over "OMG is that supposed to be a butt?" laughed myself silly, still laugh every time I see the balloon butt. So that's when I started building my models, just to see if it could be done better. And that horrible dent in the side of the hip when the leg is bent side to side, what's that about? Well I've fixed both of those problems and given the rigging and methods I used out freely so hopefully Daz might use some of it ya think? Not. Well I did what I set out to do anyway.

I have recently seen a character for V4 that looks very well when looking for lost contacts. Misty, by PoseidenTech, can be gotten at that other Poser site that begins with the letter "R". Biggest drawback is the price -- she costs nearly $40 U.S. However, according to the newsletter ad and some renders I've seen, she comes :cough: fully packed. Lots of morphs, especially in that area.
Edited 'cuz dumb Byrdbrain got the name wrong, it's MISTY, not Mina. :blushes:
