PS... and no, I promise I'm not getting high on all the mushrooms. hahahahahaha
I'm amazed at all the ideas everyone has come up with - just browsed through again and am so enjoying the creativity!!!
Well done everyone! :-)
I have to say... I'm sorry we're only limited to 3 on this one - I have SO many ideas!! hahaha
I also like Jelly Bellys and candles so I asked myself what if....
here's the result of the wat if question
Now come on, you gotta be kidding, "black light" lighting the mushroom?
Great contributions, Marilyn and Jeroni. I am sure setting up and trying different angles and lighting was fun as well as educational, and that's what this forum is all about.
Mike that's what I had in mind to do, different shapes and surfaces to do subtle lighting on, but then Joe caused me to get sidetracked and play some.
Shari, I challenge you here and now: Come on, don't be all talk, let's see what YOU have up your sleeve doing subtle lighting in the dark of night...
LOL @ "I'm happier than a pig in poo with this month's theme." I about choked on my water here when I read that!!!
Pics are sooo darned good here you guys .. I hope to master PAINTING WITH LIGHT.. wish me well... i will need it but then have Piet to help me along. he's soo good at it!

Wow, so many good shots and ideas here. Very inspiring and interesting to see, love that blue mushroom, Jeroni, your candles reflected in water is excellent, the glass of orchid is too cool, Piet glad you opted for non subtle.
Love that early morning shadow shot , and your use of lighting very much works Frank.
I like how I am seeing all sorts of offshoots from the challenge in the galleries too.
I'm going to really have to think about my (very much hoarded) two more shots!
They say a picture is
worth a thousand words...
So where do they go when a photograph leaves you
speechless?
Good stuff Frankie and welcome to Shari's labyrinth of fun and learning! Your upload illustrates the challenge well, all the colors and shades of light on the various surfaces...
Tara I am also holding back a bit with my 3rd contribution, I first want to hear what Shari and others are up to!
EDIT: Yes LovelyPoetess, 'subtle' was my initial idea of excitement, still is but I had to opt for other ideas too... Can't wait to see your uploads.
Captured this NATURAL light yesterday will trekkin' thru Smithville Park (here in New Jersey) Recent snow made it a magical place to be. Love how the light was dancing over the frozen lake! A dramatic sight to see for sure!
Btw some awesome entries for the challenge. For some reason I have the RUSH song LIMELIGHT playin' in my head!
J:woot:e
Kathy, Piet, Jeroni, Fenton...very, very creative...love 'em all. Piet...how'd you do dat?
And then Joe comes along and knocks the ball out of the park! What a shot...I trust this is already up in your gallery...wow.
Hope I didn't miss anybody since my last comment but I probably did :-(
OK, Shari...we're looking for yours :-)))

Frank, Joe and Marilyn, great products of creativity coming to the fore. I bet you are also disappointed 3 is the limit. I have about 4 possible submissions but realize I should hold back a little. Agony!
Bill, the previous submission of mine was made with a LED headlight dangling from the ceiling, on a piece of string facing the camera on the floor, pointing up. I swung the LED light and opened the lens.
These people huh! "I should get my butt in gear", did you hear them? :tt2: Come on you guys its the 7th already, time is waiting for no man.
Ah I see, I have gone from Ronnie to these people eh?, LOL!, I truly am finding this one a tad difficult on the idea front Piet, I can cope with the whole ethos of it, but the little grey cells are on strike at the mo hehehehe!...Oh I dare say I will come up with something this evening, between the heady rush here at work, and the odd fleeting moment to sneak some surfing time, my brain is screaming ideas, which i forget by the time I have returned home heheheh!....But I concur time waits for no man :)

I thought the "guilty parties" would respond sooner or later even without mentioning names, LMAO!
Serious: I know what you mean Ronnie, sit back, relax and i am sure you will upload something which knocks our socks off! Good luck at work! Remember "All work and no play..."?

Our conference room ... lights out; the lighting coming in was awesome I thought. :)

I took this one with a point and shoot digital a couple of years ago, but this is the first time I've ever posted it anywhere. Does it still count? Hope so. Anyway, it was taken in Vegas outside the Treasure Island casino while we were waiting for the show to start. I thought it fit this months challenge pretty well and figured I would dig it out.
BTW, some great shots in this thread already, can't wait to see what's coming up.
Mike
Shari...I have been known to be able to sleep in a conference room with that kind of dreamy light.
And Mike...good job with the light in Vegas. Imagine what you can do next time with your DSLR!
*** If my neighbors knew I was photographing the inside of my toaster in the dark, the little men in the white coats would be knocking at my door.
Bill:)

LOL Bill, they sure would, but then again, if they had seen me last night on my belly across the couch with a camera in my hand and most of the lights off, they'd have probably called the cops!...Nice image here my friend.

@ Ronnie and Shari :b_rolleyes:
I take back my snide remarks Ronnie! Hunny, your's and Ronnie's are awesome, that's what this challenge is about, lighting shedding new light on shapes, pardon the pun.
Hey Mike! Welcome to the forum, do we mind!!!! Of course we prefer pics shot explicitly for the challenge but you are pardoned IF you promise to keep going until you have uploaded all 3 of your contributions for the challenge.
LOL @ Bill sleeping in the conference room :P Great upload!

The underside of a mushroom lit with a black light...
My poor little camera didn't know what "hit" it!!
I didn't think I would be able to actually do it at one point because it refused to focus!!
But persistence paid off :-)
