........to get objects to appear in front of the camera? If there is, I can't find it. I roam about with the camera on an infinite terrain until I find a place I want to build a scene at. But then I have to go chasing objects around the grid. It would be great to have objects load or import where ever I am with the camera. But maybe that can't happen in Vue.

I dunno if its just my Vue (or my own silly self), but I cant manage to get things to load in Center at all... even when i check the box. (ok, its happened just often enough I know it isn't completely broken).
Usually, things load wherever my camera is....
Maybe try what I do (and screw up on constantly LOL)... make the camera your active item, and THEN load an object in and see if it does it for you, too. but then... it could just do that with the imported stuff...
can't hurt to try, right?
=D
I wish you luck (and im watching this thread, too, cus if there's a way to do this consistently...)

File, Options, General Preferences tab. Make sure Center Vue objects when loading is checked.

For uploading new objects: I select an object( any type) and load - the new object appears where the selected object is.
For bringing an existing object B over to the position of object A, select A then B, use the align tool. (3rd from bottom on left bar v7complete). (make sure to select 'keep 1st object fixed' )
Hopefully one of the two is what you're looking for

Hey Mark,
Remember, any object will load at the center of the tri-views. So, you can position the tri-views at the camera, then right-click to move the tri-views a bit off the camera and load your objects.
Here's how you do it.
Just select the camera, and click on 'Frame All Selected Objects' button on the top toolbar. Now the camera is centered in the tri-views. Next, right-click and pan the top view so the middle of the top view is just in front of the camera.
Next load your objects. They will appear directly in the middle of the tri-view. Move and rotate to taste. IIRC, you don't typically like using tri-views-- you may have to for this to work.

Yeah exactly as ArtPearl suggested. If you uncheck center objects then have something selected like the camera or another prop the imported object will appear right next to the selected object. A real pain in the back side if you inadvertantly have the sun selected when you import :D

*Dito on that, I do it every time and it works every time.
Very useful if I actually want 2 or more different objects close together.

If your camera is sdelected in the wolrd browser and you load an object, normally it loads at the camera position.
