Subject: Do you use v7 complete (particularly on a Mac)

I had a couple of bugs using V7 complete which I reported to e-on but they claim they cant reproduce it.  So I wondered if anyone else had this problem, particularly if you are using a Mac. Both bugs are related to the use of a left click having the effect of a right click (ctrl/click on the mac).  One bug is getting smart drop instead of a regular drop. The other getting the 'write object'  dialog instead of the load object. Please can you try it and let me know? -------- This is what I sent them:

I start a new scene and add a vue cylinder primitive, move it up and tilted. Then I hit the 'drop' icon on the left bar. I tried it in v6inf as well as v7comp for comparison.
In V6 it moves down along the z axis keeping the tilt. In V7c it doesnt drop straight down, it rotates and falls on its side. See attached image for a screen capture before and after the drop in v6 & v7.
This looks like instead of doing a regular drop (click on icon on left bar) it executes a smart drop ( ctrl/click on a mac or right click on PC). I am sure I didnt chose smart click by accident as this would require holding down an extra key.
There seems to be some element of randomness in this erroneous v7 behaviour - if after the drop I do an 'undo' and drop again repeatedly, most times it will do it wrongly but once in a while it drops properly without falling on its side.

It occurred to me that it is confusing a left and a right click. In fact I had occurrences that this confusion happened on the load/write object as well. If I want to load a new object but I have already some object selected and I click on the object icon (left bar) it asks me where I want to WRITE the object. If I deselect all objects and left click on the icon it works correctly and I can load a new object.
This also works right or wrong in a somewhat random matter. I dont have a screen shot at the moment but I thought the two errors might be related

This is what I get on my  iMac, 10.5.6 , 7Complete

Drop test using a 2 button Intuos cordless mouse:  with a tilted cylinder
Left click=reg. drop (keeps tilt),    right click=smart drop ( flips to land on flat end).

With the pen tool:
alt/click=reg. drop,   ctrl/click=smart drop

Load test-
with the already in the scene cylinder selected: Left =load obj , right =save obj.
with absolutely nothing already selected  left=load obj, right = no choice offered

pen tool:
alt/click=load
ctrl/click=save obj

My results are consistent.

I don't have 6Inf installed anymore because it was a disaster for me so can't compare with that.

Gini, thank you so much for trying it. This bug must be specifically targeted for me:)
I might try and get a 2 button mouse, probably be useful even if it doesnt solve this particular problem

Anyone else?

ArtPearl

OS 10.5.6 - Vue Complete - Ver 7.20-04 build 38774
Mouse - Logitech laser mouse, also tried microsoft and kensington mice

My results were the same as Gini's

Drop test
Left Click = reg drop (remains tilted)
Right Click = smart drop (cylinder rotated to land flat)

Load Test
with the already in the scene cylinder selected: Left =load obj , right =save obj.
with absolutely nothing already selected  left=load obj, right = no choice offered

All worked fine.

I am using a 2008 Mac Pro with Leopard 10.5.6 and have not seen the bug the original poster is stating. My mouse is also a Logitech cordless MX Revolution and I have no problems with it left or right click in Vue 7.

I also recommend "SteerMouse" for Mac if you don't or can't find good drivers for your mouse.

Thank you for your responses. Maybe I need to upgrade for tiger to Leopard - I dont seem to have other problems with OS so I'm a bit reluctant to do it:) I thought it might be because I use a track-pad not a mouse, but e-on claims they tried with both and didnt have a problem.

last year when I was on a laptop instead of an iMac I did sometimes got unexpected results from using the trackpad. Even on my laptop I ended up hooking up a mouse for Vue6. Maybe just get a 2 button mouse and try that first if you arent keen to upgrade?
I only upgraded 3 months ago to 10.5... have to say I really do like Leopard after avoiding the upgrade for sometime.
Photoshop CS4 doesn't always play nice with it and you might remember my Hex problems from a while back - Hex an 10.5 are a total no go! in my book.
Works great with Vue7 Complete though.
