I was just wondering if you mind or not if someone makes a comment to your photo saying nice postwork, when the only thing you have done to the photo is added a frame?

I m just wondering thats all sometimes it bugs me knowing that the photo is how I have taken it, and to get nice postwork. Dont all answer at the same time i dont want the net to crash lol

lol when it comes to comments. you cant take them very serious they will tell you nice job and bravo and nice post work if you was to post a stick lol

sometimes nice post work kind of comments when its clear you didnt do anything to the image.. comes from people that are sick of typing and they grab a copy and paste line and toss it in there..

or sometimes its people that dont speak english and have saved a few comments to copy and paste because they really do want to comment and and they might not know what nice post work means lol

its nice getting comments
but the copy and paste kind of comments are most the time in reality collectiing friends in hopes you will comment on thier stuff :-)

If you don't mind, I'll give an indirect answer by way of an example ...

Some years ago when I began to participate in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), I made and taught about making cordials (fruit macerated with vodka or brandy). 

At SCA events and also at Renaissance Faires, I would offer a taste.  There were many comments ... quite a few were helpful. 

Of course, the least helpful comment I ever heard was, "Nice bottle".

How bad is when a photo looks very nice, but I do not know to discuss, to express what one sees when djen beauty to charm, to create emotions and inspire the work and effort.

It is true that an unfamiliar language can be a barrier to expression.

As a test, I used Google -> Language Tools to translate to Albanian from English. 

Si një provë, unë përdorur Google -> Language Tools për të përkthyer në shqip nga Anglishtja.

Of course, I need your reply to know how effective, or how well Google does the translation.

No, it doesn't make me feel better ... especially if I think they're trying to tell me that the best thing they can say about the cordial is that they like the bottle. 

That is rather the long way around to say that someone should try harder. 

OTOH, Baroness Elspeth of The Barony of the Bridge (at a time when she was Queen Elspeth of the East Kingdom) said that my cordials were good enough that she entered one of mine  into a tasting ... as Queen's Champion ... as a mild challenge to the others in that tasting/competition.  ... Quite a compliment. 

Given that courtesy is of the utmost importance among members of the SCA, I don't complain about any response ... not even, "nice bottle."

I understand what your saying..... It irks me when I clearly state that the photo is straight out of the camera and then someone always comments on the postwork!!!
It's kind of like the people that hurry through things without reading the sign, the info, the fine print..... you get the feeling that they just don't care enough to take the time.
I find that part of my problem with "accumulating" friends here on RR, I don't like to comment on something just for reciprocating a comment, I don't want to end up being the "copy and paste" friend (although I have to admit that I have done that around the holidays)!
So don't take it to heart, it's just a fact of life here on RR.

I suppose some images simply do look postworked...otherwise how did it manage to look so good?  I suppose also "degree" of postwork is part of it, considering saturation enhancement and sharpness out of camera would be considered postwork, even if of the most ordinary sort as is routinely  done "in camera" unless a camera menu is chosen not to do those things.
(I set the camera to do as little as possible to the image..just give me the unaltered data as unaltered as can be.)

If someone were to compliment me on the entire image...and the postwork assumed to have been done, I will take it as a compliment.  Then, if in the mood,  would site mail the commentator to let them know particulars about the shot and the sort of post work actually done.    Seems fair enough to me.       TomDart
