Theorretically, I know that the fire fly render is the best form of rendering that Poser has but unfortunately, I have never been able to translate this efficiency into my works. Most times when I use the firefly render the result is always white-ish like as if there is too much light. The link below is a typical example.

The image at the back of Simon is a scaled up plane with a picture attached to it in the material room. Pls can someone tell me how to use the firefly render or put some firefly settings that will work well with scenes.

The settings I used to produce the image for both the Preview renderer and the firefly renderer are the same but the image on the plane seems much clearer in the Preview renderer than the firefly and this is the story of all my works.

You would need to post your current lights and render setup.

But I'd start with disconecting the texture of your background prop from the diffuse channel and plug it on alternate diffuse, set diffuse value = 0 and specular = 0.

I would plug the background picture into ambient and set both diffuse and specular to 0 so the lights have no effect on it.

Is the specular color for the plane object set to black? If not, the washed out look is probably a highlight.

Why don't you just render the character in an empty scene and combine the output with your image, don't worry about putting it on a plane in the scene at all.

its pretty simple:
your BG pic is so bright because of the lights. you need to make it invisible for lights and shadows.
plus the image into alt-diffuse. everything else is 0. and turn of shadows on the prop.

Thanks to you all. I've been able to do my first successful render with firefly by making use of Hioushi's suggestions. But one more question I will like to ask is; Is this the settings I will use in the material room for all firefly renders.

Those settings are useful when working with a background prop, that whey it doesn't get affected by the scene lights or shadows.

Why not just import the image as a background image the same way you also could do in the earlier versions of poser?

Sometimes, importing it as a background image will throw the proportions of the pic out of whack at render time. It'll preveiw correctly and render wrong. So manually plugging it in is a better idea.

There's not really a "once size fits all" setting for Poser :) It all depends on what you're rendering and the mood ect you're aiming for :)
