I'm considering reporting some issues with the Mac Poser 7/Pro UI to Smith Micro, but first I want to find out if anyone else - on Mac or PC - is seeing these issues.
These are two examples of what I think is the same problem, but in different parts of the Poser UI.
Irritation 1. After adjusting (for example) a morph dial in the Parameters window, wherever I click next the UI interprets it as a click some 100 pixels higher, and does whatever happens to be at that position. After that it responds correctly again, until I change another dial.
Irritation 2. In the Material Room, after adjusting something, or even after scrolling the window, it again reads the pointer as being higher than it actually is. This is a much bigger irritation as it can actually move a node from its correct position, or select and open the wrong parameter value, and then I have to wait several seconds until it's finished whatever it does and comes back to me.
Has anybody else seen these issues? Do SM already know about them? Any feedback would be appreciated to stop me wasting my time with them.
Thank you.
Izi

I suppose you've compared other apps ... but this does sound more like a
mouse driver problem, or perhaps a mechanical problem in the mouse?
Maybe it could be a specific Poser problem if Poser's main window location is
being reported incorrectly to the system.

Thanks David. This only happens in Poser 7 and Poser Pro - no other apps - so I won't accept that there's anything wrong with my system.
I think you're on PC, right? So maybe it's just a problem with the Mac version.

I've never seen this error on a PC, except in my own programming!
Have you tried the partial-reinstall trick yet? (ie install latest SR to refresh DLLs)

I'm using P7 on a Mac and I don't have these issues. My Specs: Mac Pro, Leo 10.5.6, 5 Gigs ram, 2.5 TB Combined HD Space.

Thank you both. Looks like it's something to do with my Poser install. Strange, though, that I have the same issue with both 7 and Pro. I'll try the partial reinstall trick, and if that doesn't work I'll just try to live with it until Poser 8.

they may also be able to help in mac forum with OS X maintenance tips, with which yer already familiar. it would be a total bummer to hafta do something to the OS X mouse drivers IMVHO. wouldn't have the foggiest notion.

Poser 7 on a mac here and I don't have that issue either

Not happening here (Vista 64-bit system). Also, it's not 'strange' that you get the same problem in both Poser 7 and PoserPro as the code base for the posing room is almost identical.
I don't think this is SM's problem. Could your system be using a mildly exotic mouse driver? If so, try updating. If it's a default driver, also try updating it.

Thanks for the feedback. I meant strange if it was something to do with the Poser installation itself, since 7 and Pro are completely independent. This suggests that there is something in the 7 and Pro code base that does not like the fairly standard Logitech mouse drivers I am using, and if this is the case then I think it is indeed SM's problem. But I'm now wondering if it's something to do with my Wacom tablet.

It might be the tablet interfering in some odd way. I've never ever heard about this problem before, nor have I encountered it myself.
I have another, unrelated, and very annoying mouse problem in Poser though: When I am in the Material Room and I need to change a base colour of something and bring up the colour picker, my mouse pointer disappears. Needless to say it's almost impossible to pick a colour that way. I've resorted to let CTRL "ping" my mouse wit that circular thing.. that way I can at least guesstimate where it's at and move it accordingly...
But this started after I got this new Logitech mouse to replace my worn-out Microsoft one. So it MIGHT be a Logitech/Poser issue. An exotic one for sure, but still..
I should mention that I am on Windows Vista, so it's not a Mac issue in my case.

Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.

That's odd also, since I use a logitech mouse as well (P7, Mac, as I stated above) - I have no issues at all in Poser or any other app. I don't have my Wacom tablet attached currently, but I don't recall any problems when it was, either.
