I have complained about this many times to Admin, but goes on ignored.......
Paths for Poser zips should start with Runtime/ .....
Paths for Daz Studio zips should start with Content/ ......
and they should not be mixed inside the same zip!
Why can't testers catch these mistakes?
I just bought a product made for Daz Studio that starts with" Daz/content ", which will only put a folder in Studio called "Daz".
Daz studio normally loads into: C:>Program Files>DAZ>Studio>Content
The product I bought was " AN-Toru by anewman "
I have contacted the merchant, with no response yet, but I would like to see some sort of guideline on this page about D|S paths, too, so that testers and merchants can refer to it:
http://www.renderosity.com/news.php?viewStory=13758
I would also like to see the paths corrected and new zips uploaded.
Oh BTW, I have spent $776.09 so far this year and $1237.81 last year at Renderosity!
thanks,
Toni

It is not a suggestion, it is a COMPLAINT that the paths are wrong in this product, and testers need to be aware of this, so that they do not pass similar path mistakes again.
I can't install this product , as is, without moving the folders all around in Daz Studio to proper place, afterwards.
The zips should contain proper paths so that I do not have to manipulate the folders to work properly.

I was just looking at this zip that I complained about....it's a total mess and has poser files mixed in.. I can't decipher where to put stuff, and not worth the trouble.
May I have a refund?
thank you,
Toni

hey guys, i was just directed to this thread....I've been down with the flu so i haven't replied to any emails lately.
i'm still new at product making and path creation, I was hoping that the people who tested my product would give me any heads up, but it looks like we're both still learning.
there shouldn't be any poser files mixed in with the toru zip, I'll have to go through it and look at the previous thread posts to figure out the correct folder paths.
i will fix this! please give me a day or two.

my daz program does not have any content in the path that you mentioned above.
everything that i have installed from daz goes through the path:
C:>Program Files>DAZ>content
is this wrong?
also, renderosity only allows 3 zip files max, which is why the daz content folders and poser runtime folders are included in the same zips. The readme.txt shows proper paths for installation.
i guess i will look for daz tutorials on the proper way to save characters with correct paths?

hmmm, I just wish, The content I get here would show up in Daz content tree. For some strange Bizarre reason, half the stuff I buy at rendo will not show up in my content tree after doing a content search. I don't understand file stucture at all. If it doesn't show up in the content tree. The only option I got is an import file every time I want to use something. Thats a guessing game since theres no image. Try texture 1, "not the one, I want" Try texture 2, and so on till i get lucky
Now I have a mac, and maybe thats part of the problem. But I can use everything. Its just that a lot of the time it needs to be imported.
I'd like to point out the fact, That I never have this problem with items purchased from DazStudio, or Vanishing point

sorry for another post, i'm just trying to make sense of everything. I've scoured daz3d's site, trying to find correct path installation, and the only thing i've found says
"All files must be .zipped up in the proper folder structure. Poser files must be nestled in the Runtime... format while DAZ|Studio files must be in the content... structure. Products may be rejected if the files are not in the proper folder structure."
...which is what i've done with my products. Since you can manually put the folders where they need to go , and the correct paths are listed in the readme file, I don't understand the problem.

Ok, here's what I have been telling ADMIN to tell testers for over a year.........
DAZ zip paths should start with.......
Content/
so you you can load directly to to Studio folder.
POSER zips should all start with ..
Runtime/
Ps. there are few Poser injection thumbs that start with runtime, at the bottom of the AN-Toru zip.
Thanks for responding, and get well soon.

PS...no one wants to have to fiddle with loading products manually, when the zips are correct, you just load them. When you buy as many products as I do, I don't want to mess with this, and just don't use the product.
DaleCar posted Sun, 22 March 2009 at 4:09 PM
Perhaps they need to insert a disclaimer
"Some assembly required for DazStudio users."

tcombs, thank you for all the info. I spend thousands of dollars a year on these products and when something doesn't work properly, I just don't use it. I figured it was just something i was doing wrong, but it sounds like this is a larger, ongoing problem!
I'm working on fixing everything, it'll take me a day or two to triple check that everything is working properly.
thank you so much for pointing out all the problems. If you still want a refund, I can approve one for you.

I totally agree in regards to make sure that the file pathe for both Poser and Daz should be correct and if not a tester should let the Vendor know.
How often I have installed a Daz Studio product only to find it outside the content folder messing up my structure.
I now unzip all my files first to a folder in my Documents and then manually put them in the propper place though I should not have to do that really.
Thank you for this thread.

okay, i've submitted a new zip file with the correct folder and file paths for Toru.
Daz studio files start in a Content folder, Poser files start in a Runtime folder.
Until Renderosity allows separate Poser and DS zips, (texture files folder would need to be duplicated), the updated zip file includes install folders for both programs.
If it matters, I found the file path info in Daz3d's Q&A section:
"DAZ Studio files:
If you do get DAZ Studio format items you can put most of the files where you like (keeping the PNG file, which is the thumbnail that shows up in the Content palette, with the data file of the same name). If there's a Data folder included that has to go directly in a folder you have selected as a DAZ Studio content directory (eg if you have just the default folder it has to go in StudioContent, giving StudioContentDatawhatever subfolder it holds). The same is true if there's a Runtime folder. "

I want to thank ANEWMAN and Debbie M for resolving this issue. Anewman has corrected the zip and I hope all vendors will follow in her footsteps with proper paths to both D|S and Poser!
If vendors want to include paths to both P and D|S, put a zip inside that goes to the other program, so that they are not mixed together.
Anewman's new zip is excellent!
THANKS :D
