I don't think there is any direct way of getting fbx out of poser. Perhaps you could export to another app with COLLADA (via poser pro or D|S) and then export to fbx from it ? The 30 day demo of 3ds MAX could work for this, though i admit i haven't tried to do this before so YMMV.
And secondlife is one of those virtual life/online game type things and what usually people mean when they ask about 'avatars.' pjz99 probably thought that you wanted it for that.
pjz99 posted Wed, 25 March 2009 at 11:19 PM
yes, that was what I meant. If not in the second life context then what "avatars" are you talking about?

tks for your replies.
actually, someone want me me to generate a avatar , rigged and animate and delivered it in FBX . i'm interested so i want to find out more about it .

An "avatar" in what program?

I just checked, and carrara can import fbx and/or poser animations, but apparently it can't export fbx.
ghonma posted Thu, 26 March 2009 at 1:03 AM
Also note that it's not actually legal to take poser content and distribute it to other people like this. So even if you find some way to make it fbx, you could be on very sticky ground trying to send it to your friend.

Milkshape has an "Alias FBX" export.
You can export from Poser to Milkshape using Poser2MS3D
Poser2MS3D retains the Geometry, hierarchy, rigging, animation, materials and texture maps.

It would probably help all the people who are trying to help, if Posenpose would describe what the goal is in detail.

There is an FBX plugin for DAZ | Studio:
http://www.daz3d.com/i.x/shop/itemdetails/-/?item=4137
It allows to export Poser figures along with their animation to the FBX format.

If this is an entirely original character, maybe you could do it all in blender instead ? That has fbx export and the app is free so its worth trying anyway. You can check it out from:

hi ghonma,
i'm thinking of doing it in poser cause i'm familiar with the rigging process.
i've not try blender, i'll check it out. tks for your suggestion.
pjz99 posted Fri, 27 March 2009 at 10:35 AM
What exactly is it you want to convert? A DAZ figure, one of the EF figures, or your own character model?
edit: never mind, you explained that earlier, sorry
