I have loaded the Solar System15 (Movie) from the Space Scenes.
I want to add an image onto a Billboard or Splat that will continue facing the camera and travel, with the camera view, as it moves through the space scene.
My minds idea of how simple this should be is NOT in gear!
Help---please!

Just drag it onto the camera in the Property Tray so it becomes a child object.

Thanks for the reply Mark.
Thats what I tried with the Billboard.
It does not seem to work--at least not on that particular movie file?

Were you using the Splat primitive? If it was just a plane, you probably want to add a "Point At" modifier so it stays facing the camera.

I tried all that , with the Billboard (it should work exactly as for the Splat)----no luck!
Very confused!

What exactly is it doing (or not doing)? Does it stay still, not show up in the rendering, go whirling madly off in the wrong direction?

No, it doe's not stay still and also dissapears.
And it is identical with the Splat?

You might make sure you're at frame zero of the animation before you add it and add the modifier. I had trouble with the fire primitive, adding it to the scene when the frame counter was at the end. Some of the settings wouldn't behave right.

I have an idea to have it in the exact same location as the Target, and meld it with that?
It's worth playing with the file to exactly understand I think.

And that looks as thoughit might work--with a BUT!
It seems the Splat goes through some of the planets so i guess I will need to fine tune a distance in front of the Splat where that does not happen?

Well I guess I opened a can of worms?
The idea was good ---in principle----!!
Having got my object right it seems, now, I will also have to orient it's "direction" through a variety of key frames---without that it moves "backwards" through some of the sequences!
(Proves, again, whilst as a pro still photographer, I failed to ever be able to make good movies!)

ps Appreciate seeing any efforts by others to utilise that Browser Space.car file for creating additional ideas.
