I have a video tutorial where I talk a lot about paths, maybe you'll find some useful details. See the link above, it's the series "Making of Sic Transit".The tutorial should have the answers for that. If you did exactly as I explained, you should have a mixed material where one component is the road and the other component is everything else. To populate only the road, you have to create an ecosystem on top of the road material.
If you post a screenshot of your terrain material I might be able to help you further. Otherwise, it's difficult to help, without knowing exactly what's your setup.
Now I managed to get It to work, my populations follow the patchs very nice. In the beginning of the tutorial you mentioned how to create roads/patchs in VUE. I do not posess GeoLogic2 so I have to stick to VUE for this purpose. In witch tutorial do you describe this function. For example i need a patch to follow a slope. I use Inventor in my proffession so I can quiet easy create my own objects.

Yes, you're right. I had intentions of doing it at a later time but I ended up never really doing it, for lack of time. Anyway, the workflow is not very different from GeoControl. You can follow these general steps:
1- Create a standard terrain in the resolution that you find more adequate for the camera distance (if it's close, use 2048 or 4096 (if your system can handle it), if it's distant you can use 512 or 1024).
2- Edit the terrain with Vue terrain editor. Tick the checkbox "airbrush style" and choose a brush (button to the right of the checkbox) that's adequate to the kind of road you want (more or less rugged).
3- Paint your terrain and road in the terrain editor. It's not as nice as GeoControl but, with time and perseverance, it can look good too.
4- After it's done, click on the button "Export terrain", in the terrain editor (lower right corner). Export it as bitmap. Warning: I think this button doesn't exist in all versions of Vue. Infinite has it, but for example Pioneer doesn't have it.
5- You can open this bitmap in Photoshop (or other 2D tool) and from here the steps are the same as in my tutorial (paint the distribution maps, etc).

What is the easiest way to create patch and roads on terrain? A possible solution what I can think about should be to create new layer for this road. But If i do what happens with population does It consider all layers? And also If I create patch how do I make the to follow my exsisting terrain?
