Does anyone know of any castles/fortresses that include a complete interior (rooms, halls, towers, etc.)? I would prefer a free one, but would not object to paying for one, or even paying a lot for one that is of high quality. I use Vue, but obj format would be great. Not collada, though- I found a castle with a complete interior in collada format, but unfortunately, Vue crashes every time I try to import it. I would appreciate any help!

Have you done a site search here including the Marketplace...seems I've seen some such offering here.. ...

Once in a while I look around,
I see a sound
and try to write it down
Sometimes they come out very soft
Tinkling light sound
The Sun comes up again

I have, but the only mention I've found of any are old posts with the content no longer available. I have looked in the Marketplace, but I think all the castles there are exterior only. At least, none of them say they have interiors.

Rodluc is your man for castles - though to be truthful, I don't know offhand if he has interiors. There are definitely a few rooms and other construction pieces at Joe's Art Gallery - you could assemble your own for some scenes. I don't know of any complete interiors, though. That would be an enormous modelling task.

I'm working on a castle like building at the moment.. I call it MediEvalJail or Palais de Justice. Ok, a bit scary but have look. Some day it shall be Poser freestuff ... may be 1-2 months.

If could need it. The mesh is done, ok, in C4D, but can output as OBJ quickly. It's roughly assembled with material groups but not uv mapped at the moment. But procedural materials should work well but you have to do them in Vue.

It's round 60 MB, but I can split it as 2-4 parts for partial loading.
Have a look to some screen shots.

Here is the great court room in the right building ...

JoEtzold posted Thu, 09 April 2009 at 3:37 PM

Sorry, it's a jail ... so lot's of rooms are cells. Maybe sometimes I will renovate ... as a cloister or hotel ... :-)

Here we are in the left handed old tower. It's the King's room with a balcony lurking to the court yard as also to a small roof "garden" ...

Here we have the main entrance and stairhouse in the back building

and the cellar with entrance to the outer world and teh lower cells under that stairhouse

No, we don't have any steam heating. It's the room of the blacksmith as also the strange interrogation chamber. Ah, yeah, and we have the steam boiler to operate the ...

... the ultimate judicical equipment ... sure, Mr. Edgar Allan Poe was here ...

If you have no need for punishment, I can let it out of the OBJ file.

And as all good old castles we have a dungeon, crypta or secret meeting room with a fire hole if neccessary. Give it a other material and it's a fine deep water hole.

So let me know if you might use it.

What can I say, other than to repeat myself? That looks amazing, and I have a use for the correctional facility if no-one else does. Looking forward to seeing it finished, though I appreciate the amount of work that's needed.

To EnglishBob- Thank you for the link to Joe's Art Gallery- it has a lot of useful stuff.

To JoEtzold- Your castle looks very nice. I would like to see what it looks like when it's finished

I'll second that comment about seeing the castle when it's done. Cool!

Thanks for the interest and well, it's on a good way ... first will finish the jail cart cause it have to be scaled according to that big outdoor's ... would be to bad if passengers have to walk outside cause cart is to big ...

B.t.w. folks, what do you think. Should I make one or some or all outside walls as separat actors. So they could than be hidden for better camera positioning. Normally I found that the cells or rooms are big enough for camera setting, but under special circumstances ...

I tend to have only some bigger parts like ground floor and walls correctly uv mapped. There are lot's of smaller parts like a pump handle or some iron work, there I see no real need for a uv map. Procedural shaders will work best.
But with a big wall may be someone will paint some real pictures on it, e.g. background in the court room or such.

Rigging isn't a big thing only a matter of diligence. So I think in one month it should be finished, stay tuned on this channel ... 👍

@shellygrl598: You may have a look too on shareCG. As I remember "shamira" (search for his portfolio) has some dungeons and old fashioned rooms as also furnishings there. Mostly in poser and/or 3DS/obj formats.

captainmarlowe also does castles, but this is the most interior detail I've seen.  very impressive.
