Hello all,
Does somebody know that is is possible to add 'subsets' in the tree editor ?
I'm not talking about mixed materials but for example that you could have 2 different 'leave planes' on a tree.
Just curious about this because some Vue plants have these subsets while others do not.
And it would give us a more realistic variation too :-)

Only Eon have the ability to change SolidGrowth plants in that fashion.

I like your idea of modifying tree subset, I have a similar problem. I created a tropical island scene and used the ecosystem to foiliate the island. My problem is that the coconut trees have an un-natural brown color trunks. Having been to the tropics, and having reference pictures from there, the trunks are actually gray with slight variations of light browns. I was able to modify one palm tree to the color i like, but how do I change the color of the palm trunks in the eco-system I've already "planted"?. (I ask this question because I've got the trees just how I like them-overhanging the water, etc.) How do I add the new colored palm to the tree set? I've only had this software a couple weeks and I like it alot! I'm including a small rendering, and you can see the edited tree 2nd from the right, I didn't scale it, so it's a bit large for the scene. I just wanted to get the color right. Ideally I'd like to modify/edit most of the trees to get more variation in eco-systems. Notice how all the "brown" trees look 'rubber stamped', the fronds are all different, cool, but the trunks are all carbon copies. Thanx for any light you may be able to shine on this subject, Ron

If you already have populated youre island then go to the materials tab and under ecosystem materials dubbelclick the palmtree bark. Then you can edit your bark with what you wand.

First let me thank you very much for answering my question, I was able to change the trunk color in about 15 seconds. AWESOME! Thanks SO much, I can't beleive it was right under my nose. I do have some 3D experience in 3DS Max, but I totally like the environments that Vue can create almost effortlessly. You sound like you know what you're doing in Vue, someday I hope to also. I'm still waiting for the new Vue 7 books out soon, then I won't ask such dumb questions. Thanks for helping this Vue-Newbie with my problem, and if you need help with Max, I may be able to help you, hopefully as fast and completely as youy helped me. Here's a small rendering of that same scene with the trunk color changed. I'm still working on adding more tropical plants, so it's a work in progress. Mostly I just render these scenes for my desktop, reminds me of Diego Garcia, an island in the Danger Archipelago (real name), that I visited in the late 80s courtesy of the US Navy. Thanks again for all your help, Ron
