Hi
I am running poser 7 on a computer dual processor 2.4 Ghz, 2.93 GB of Ram, windows XP
I am building a scene and find when I press the render button it starts to rendor but the rendor sceen goes blank and when I press ctrl+alt+delete it show poser as not responding ( hung up).
I am not running another program.
Is there anything I can do to stop Poser from hanging.
It seems to work a lot better on my laptop which has Vista
Any tips or advice most appreciated.
Thanks

Please post a screenshot of your render settings.
Also, at what point does the render process stop... loading textures, calculating shadow maps, or actually rendering?

I have the same problem using the default render settings in P7(Vista). I've tried defraging my HD, which helps some. One area that I haven't looked at is the size of the runtime folder.

Poser seems to show NOTRESPONDING while rendering but it does progress , maybe just give it time ?

yep....time is a big time factor, especially when working with a lot of poses, light, textures, props, etc. Let it run, it may take a while. I am currently rendering and it's all white screen....sigh!:bored:

Thanks for your help to date, I did a defragment of the C drive where Poser 7 is installed and also the D drive where the runtime is.
Attached is a screenshot showing poser with the memory usage.
Poser rendering
As you can see on poser rendering the screen goes blank and stays that way, I have waited an hour so I know it is hung up.
For info the memory usage for Poser just running loaded with a scene is 764,064K, this seems a lot.
For information the size of my runtime is 10 GB.
Any help appreciated
Thanks

hmm, your runtime is kind of small. If you have the space, try copying your d: runtime into the C:Program Filese frontierPoser 7 folder? Then in Poser itself, go into your libraryt and delete your external runtime folder. That may help.
I would try it myself, but I've got over 36 GB of content

One hour is nothing.
It all depends on your render settings. Please post a screenshot of those, not the task manager.
Poser routinely appears to be "not responding" while rendering. Are you using "Render as separate process"? in Poser 7? If not, that may help a lot. Also set the threads to 4 (double of what processor you have.. for some reason it works fine)
