This is where I started.  Byron wrote it for PS 5 but you'll get the idea.  He has three tutorials in the MP here but you'll only need the one on the unimesh to get the gist of it.

you can make the texture with photos from real skin. or you can paint them. if you want to paint it you need special brushes for skin. for example something like this
mediadesigner.digitalmedianet.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp

you need also a good knowledge how to work with UV maps. i dont know for any good tutorial. i could now go on google and search for them but you can do this yourself. type in google :
-photoshop skin texture tutorial
-photoshop painting skin
-3d skin photoshop

something similar.

There are some free texture sets here.  You could download one or two, take them apart and see how things are put together.  You will, also, need the uv templates for V4.  They're free over at DAZ.

Also be aware, many authors are now using material room nodes to enhance the quality and realism of their skin textures.  It will be worth your time to study how material room nodes work and how to use them texturing.

This is true.  I use the material room nodes a lot to control the realism.  The first thing, though, is to learn how to put a texture together.

cool so where do i find the UV maps at daz. are they located in the victory 4.2 base page?

Victoria_Lee posted Thu, 30 April 2009 at 2:02 PM

If you go to the Victoria 4.2 base page and scroll down to the bottom info box (Resources and Information), open it up and you'll see the template downloads on the right side.  Be sure you download the correct version for your platform (Win or Mac).  They're free and come in an installer.  Just point it to where you want your templates to live and it will install them there.
