:-)  This is something I do all the time but usually by mistake. I can take a stationary object and put a motion blur on it without even trying. LOL

Try as I might, I can't seem to get a well focused picture of a bird in flight; however, in this instance, I wasn't trying for that...it was sitting nicely for a portrait when someone walked up behind me just as I took the shot... result? One more slightly blurred action shot. LOL

Just heard what the challenge subject is for May and just happen to be photographing wild birds in my backyard...hence, no problem of submitting two pics taken yesterday. The pics aren't technically very good but they show motion!

First pic is of a departing red-bellied woodpecker...sorry for the tail shot:-)

In the process of figuring out how to shoot these fast movers, I was only using a shutter speed of 1/160 of a second. Seeing this shot, I went to 1/250th next.

This pic normally wouldn't be used by me but seems to fit the challenge???

Here's another Red-bellied Woodpecker being active.

This guy dowsn't like the millit seeds (little round hard seeds) and is looking for the peanuts included in the songbird seed mixture.

He throws seeds to the deck...and my friendly chipmunk is 100% satisfied with the result.

Awesome Turnaround! The speed with which those balls are moving is sooooo well done! Makes my head spin! :-)

Bill, that is enough to make me break down and roll on the floor with laughter. I used to watch my pigeons eat seed and they couldn't just pick one up and eat it....NOOOOOOOOO... they had to sling seed everywhere and find one, just the same as the ones they'd just slung around the room, and then they'd walk around with it like it was some great prize it'd found... more of their meals ended up on the coop floor than got in them. Looks like this guy of yours has some preferences about his food as well.

I don't know if this is an 'action' photo, but I've chosen it because I like these taggers. Actually we got acquainted and I discovered that the girl is the president of an association of taggers in Padova. I've been going around and I'll post freshly-made pics in the next few days! Ciao, Sandra

My computer was down all weekend, but I got some action shots!  Boy, I can tell you I was just chompin' at the bit to get these up here!  I go all month with nothing, and then I get two and can't post 'em!  It figures.

Anyway ... this first one was taken up on the North Cascades highway on Saturday.  Sig (junge1) and I went up there.  We were parked by the side of the road, and I shot this motorcyclist on his way down the hill.  He was probably doing about 50mph.

Then on Sunday I was at my friend Linda's 60th birthday party, and people were dancing.

I missed out while I was gone!  You guys have posted some awesome stuff.  It's good to be back!

Eleven...count them...eleven new ACTION shots since I visited the monthly challenge last!

All super additions...

Let's see, ...passenger train, monster truck, horse whiz, 1st birthday cake smush, British Challenger tank, air ambulance, mocking bird, hawk (?), wall painting, motorcycle and dancing couple...and that's just in the last six days.

Six days left for MORE :-)

This was the Padova lap of the Italian Bicycle Tour, about 50 metres from my home last week. I was going home when my car was stopped: I left Flavia at the wheel and rushed to wait for the cyclists. They appeared almost immediately, with their supply cars and the reporters on motorbikes and Vespas, like the ones in the foreground with the camera, I've nicknamed Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy.

Call this **JERK**....action enough.  The kid on the jet ski had run in tight circles standing up for a while, possibly to impress the girl.  Then they went riding together and he showed how close he could get to a mother duck and her babies... much, closer than is this shot.   He also showed how he could run through a group of geese and make all of them fly at once.

Anyway, here 'tis...actions of a jerk.

Coincidentally I have been trying to learn my new camera and trying to get action shots this month.  Here is my cat with a grasshopper.

Hi All

I scanned through all the amazing images and you guys all motivated me to get in on the "action"!!!! (no pun intended) My action image is little kids on a roundabout at a park where we took Kayla, my granddaughter, last weekend! She is the one in the pink dress on the "sheep" which she insisted on calling the horse!!!!

Hugs, Carin xx

I'll title this one 'Just a little Scratching'. I took it just before the cyclists. I had some agonising moments trying to choose my 3rd post. in the end I chose this one because it makes me smile. The officer thought that nobody was going to see him, and he was riding fast enough. ;D) Ciao, Sandra

Dang!  I have one more action shot, but it's on my computer, and I'm on somebody else's laptop while my computer is being fixed.  Maybe I'll be up before the clock ticks over to June!
