since i have Poser Pro i almost always need to add some textures to my figure materials. sometimes even meshes .
so for example i save my skin shader for AM. the next time i load the shader i need to search for my eyeballs and lashes.
this never happened in poser 7.
ice-boy posted Wed, 13 May 2009 at 12:11 PM
i didnt move textures around. they are always in the same folder.

Do you have your library file search preferences set to "Deep"?
Or is it possible that you have some duplicate file names in separate libraries?

no duplicate file names.
''deep'' ? whats this?
IsaoShi posted Wed, 13 May 2009 at 1:48 PM
In your Poser Preferences, under Library. There are three options for file search: None, Shallow, or Deep.
Deep file search means that Poser will search all connected libraries for the required files.
Shallow I think means that it will only search the Poser main library, or possibly the current library, before giving up.
None means that it will not search at all, so it will only find texture and geometry files that have the correct file path.

interesting.
this is what happened:
-load apollo maximus
-load texture inside the material room
-save shader
-close poser
-open poser
-load apollo maximus
-load shader
-click render..............get message ''please locate''
IsaoShi posted Wed, 13 May 2009 at 1:55 PM
Ah, so you get the message when you render, not when you load the shader. That's not what you said. :O)
Sorry, I don't know what could cause that. You might still check the File Search preference setting, just to be sure.

If you use the textured preview, I haven't an idea either. There is a script to collect everything needed into one directory in the Python folder. You could use that and always point at that directory, as a workaround.
CollectSceneInventory.py or something like that.....

IceBoy,
When you load the texture from inside the material room, are you grabbing the texture from the Runtime:Textures folder?
ice-boy posted Thu, 14 May 2009 at 2:52 AM
no.
i create an image node and open the texture inside it.
shedofjoy posted Thu, 14 May 2009 at 3:35 AM
Is the texture image file corrupt? or did you before installing Pro change your drive letters?
Getting old and still making "art" without soiling myself, now that's success.

ice-boy, DarkEdge asked something that I also wondered about, but you misunderstood his question.
He asked you where the texture file that you are opening is stored on your hard drive.
Is it stored in your Runtime:Textures folder?
Or somewhere else not in your Runtime?

some textures are in the runtime texture folders and some not.
maybe it would help if i load the shader and ''reload'' textures and then save again?
IsaoShi posted Thu, 14 May 2009 at 9:16 AM
I don't know about that, sorry.
What I do know is that you need File Search set to 'Deep' (in Preferences) to make Poser look in all Runtimes. (Did you check that setting?)
or
You must make sure that all your references to texture files within the material that you are loading are full and correct file paths. If you check the file paths for the image maps inside your shader files (using a text editor) it might show up where the problem is.
Otherwise I'm completely lost on this problem. :O)
