Subject: Help With SD Card

beachzz ( ) posted Fri, 15 May 2009 at 11:35 PM · edited Thu, 28 November 2024 at 6:29 AM

I was on vacation and bought a new SD card for my camera (Fuji S700).  I can't get it to upload to my computer, tried locking and unlocking it.  Anyone got any suggestions?  Thanks.

are you using a card reader or straight from the camera?

can you see the images on your camera?

How does the camera show up on your computer? as another drive?

Check the cable..

a card reader
yes
when i put the card in, it opens a window that says "removable disk E", but the bad card doesn't register at all
the cable is fine, i used it earlier with the original card

Attached Link: SD / SDHC Memory Card Reader

is your SD card one of the new SDHC cards?  If so you need special adapters for them to be read.

Hmmm, I'm not sure, I'll have to look at it again.  Thanks.

If this is the same type of card you normally use..I'm not sure..

When your window opens...

close that

then go to "my computer"

try going to it from that direction..

Can you please post the exact card reader you have?

Do you have a cable to connect your camera to the computer? maybe you could try that

The PC may need to be restarted in some cases..

the card reader is a Targus, usb, 2.0.   I don't have a cable for thecamera, but might see about getting one. I'll also try your other suggestion.  Thanks so much.

There are a couple of models..

If you have the first one..(a multi card reader) You should see several drives when you have it hooked up.

At least, that's the way mine does on Windows XP

The other ones, I'm thinking it will show up as a single drive.

The fact that you can see the image while the card is in the camera, tells me, the card is mostly likely OK, and there seems to be an issue elsewhere

Try this..

Take a different card (assuming you have one) take a few shots and see if you can view that from the computer

Thanks so much for all your info, I'll try all of your ideas; one way or another I'll get those pix!!
I do have another card; I bought this one when I was in Hawaii just so I wouldn't run out of memory; the other one works just fine.
