Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 27 8:38 am)
Eye poses? Why not make them your self, there are only two actors to pose.
Pose the right eye, with that eye still selected do 'Copy' (Ctrl+C), select the left eye then 'Paste' (Ctrl+V). correct for squint if necessary, then save the pose using "Select Subset" to only include the eyes. Then continue to save without morphs.
You would probably be able to run off at least a dozen different ones in half an hour.

Or you could use an invisible prop, let's say a ball, and let the eyes "Point at" it. then you can move this focus around and the eyes will be following. AFAIK, this still works with V4.

You are quite right SickenlySweete, poses made for earlier poser figures will not work on V4 or M4, and this includes pitklad's poses linked above.
It's not really the fault of the poses or the person who made them, it's down to a decision by the people who made V4. Earlier figures used the names "leftEye" and "rightEye" for the eye actors, but in V4 and M4 they decided to use the names "lEye" and "rEye", with the consequence that poses made for other figures that use the standard naming convention for the eyes won't work on the V4/M4 figures. :(
With a good text editor like EditPad Lite, it would not be that hard to convert pitklad's poses to work on V4/M4. Here is how I would do it using EditPad Lite. Create a new folder under your Face folder named "EyePoses V4-M4". Copy all pitklad's ".fc2" files from the "PartialEyePoses" folder into the "EyePoses V4-M4" folder. In EditPad open all the files in the "EyePoses V4-M4". Use the "Search and Replace" function with the "All open documents" and "Start from beginning" options, to replace every every instance of the string "leftEye" with "lEye". Do the same again, but this time replacing "rightEye" with "rEye". Now use the Save All function to save all the files back to disk. Now copy all pitklad's ".png" from the "PartialEyePoses" folder to the "EyePoses V4-M4" folder. Job done!
Of course it would also be possible to construct files that would work on V4/M4 and older figures, but this would involve more work.
I hope you found this post helpful.
Thanks for the clarification lesbentley
I don't use V4-M4 and so I assumed that the naming of the eyes bones is standard on Poser world, which seams to be a wrong assumption
This is a two part fix, and requires the application of one pp2 (prop) file named "EyeFix-part A.pp2", and one pz2 (pose) file named "EyeFix-part B.pz2".
The text of "EyeFix-part A.pp2" is attached above, I will attach the part B to my next post. Because Renderosity does not support the attachment of files with Poser file extensions, I have had add ".TXT" to the end of the file name. Save the attached file to a props folder with the name "EyeFix-part A.pp2". That is to say, drop the ".TXT" part of the file extension.
Note that by default MS Windows hides file extensions for known file types such as "*.txt", in order to change the file extension you may need to disable this feature. You can change this behaviour in Windows Explorer from the Tools menu > Folder Options > View tab, then un-tick "Hide file extensions for known file types". This should allow you to delete the ".TXT" part of the extension.
To use the files, make sure that some part of V4 (or M4) is selected, then apply the "EyeFix-part A", next apply the EyeFix-part B. V4 (or M4) should now respond to eye poses that were made for figures that used the other convention, like V3, V2, V1, Jessi, Judy, or the P4 figures, e.t.c.
How it works. The "EyeFix-part A" adds two ghost actors to the figure that is selected at the time it is applied, named leftEye and rightEye. These actors will respond to poses using the other convention. "EyeFix-part B" then adds 'linkParms' statements to V4's 'figure' block, linking the rotations of the original eyes to the ghost eyes. It is important that some part of the V4 (or M4) is selected before you apply these files. The files only work for rotations of the eyes, not translations or scaling.
