Thank you.
I don't suspect any of you reading this will recognize this name, but, Renderosity is where I began my life as a digital artist. About 8 years ago, when I was 15, I posted some of my very first digital artworks on the forums here. Looking back today, I find myself incredibly critical of my early works, as I'm sure most of us are.
But, I found something rather humbling as well. Consistently I received constructive feedback and encouragement from community members. It was in part, this encouragement that lead me to tell my parents I wanted to go to art school. And to find that art was my true passion in life. Had I gotten 'burned', called a noob and harshly criticized, who knows if I would've dared taken the chance.
8 years later, I've now graduated from school and as of this coming Friday will be credited in my first industry work as a lighting artist on the short 'Partly Cloudy', premiereing before 'Up'. I can't begin to describe the intense appreciation I have for those who helped me foster a budding interest into a life-long passion. But, I plan to begin contributing regularly on the forums here again, in hopes that I might help some other budding artist find their roots and pass on the love.
So, Thank You. And I hope Renderosity continues to provide a creative and constructive outlet for many, many years to come.

Yay! That sound you hear in the background is wild applause coming from the middle of Indiana.
That's some of the best news I've heard in a long time, thank you for sharing. Kudos to you for having the dream, and even more for following it.
(Now I really wanna go see that movie this weekend...)

Pursuing a dream is one of the hardest, most painful things to do in life. I've been blessed enough to make a few of mine come true, so I know the sacrifices one must make and the amount of hard work involved. So good one you and I wish you more hard work.

Just got back from seeing Partly Cloudy and Up... I can't recommend them enough. I laughed and cried, and laughed some more. And, man, what a great job everyone did making those films.
Wow.

Partly Cloudy was a fine piece of work. The wife and I had a really good laugh. I guess the theme of that short as well as in UP was loyalty and commitment. Things aren't aways going to be on the Up and Up but you stick together and that is where the joy comes from. Great job!

Ah, yes, actually. That was my demo-reel from my junior year in college. My more current stuff is located here http://www.nickbartone.com/ (note, this is a year old at this point, and the website hasn't been updated in about that same amount of time)
Thanks everyone for your generous responses, especially glad to hear you enjoyed Up and Partly Cloudy! You all have a great thing going here, keep it up!
