Hi folks,
I'm new to 3D rendering and I would appreciate some advice from the pros. Would you recommend Bryce for a newbie? What kind of learning curve does it have? Any and all input, advice, ideas and recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Bryce has been the first step into 3D for many of us that now use more expensive apps alongside Bryce. I would reccomend it. The GUI is unique and normally people either love it or hate it. I was both; didn't really understand it at first, then put it aside for a few months. The second time I played around with I never stopped, still do to this day (that was like 11 years ago, lol)
I see it as a great way to get started in 3D, no matter where you end up going.
IMHO, the learning curve will sometimes be offset by the ease and speed you can just throw some abstract stuff together and render it out. There is something to be said about having some cool looking renders while leaning into the learning curve.
Bryce Version 5.5 is still free, btw;

Thanks for the reply. That's what I was looking for. Sounds like Bryce is the way to go. Now I just have to get the thing. I plan to get it in the near future. Again, thanks for the help.

Hello. Yes Bryce can be confusing at first, but the more time you put into it, you'll find it to be a breeze. I would suggest to anyone interested wanting to do anything in 3D to use Bryce.
I think you will like it. just give yourself time to learn it. Very simple program. I love it.
You'll also find out the forums are most helpful, plus look for tutorials here on the site.
Good luck, and just have fun with it.

If I can add my two cents.
I think its already been said but worth saying again. You just can't beat Bryce's interface. I would also add that Bryce has one of the easiest tutorials to follow. Step by step it will walk you through building a simple model while teaching you the interface at the same time.
And as you already found this community of Brycers. You will find that it can be one of the best resource of all for a new beginner.
