I render in the default settings and Aiko looks like the above. I've included the render settings...

What am I doing wrong? Is it a graphics card or driver thing? Or is it a simple setting (hold breath)?...
Thanks in advance,
Laurie

try shading rate at .20 raytracing at 6 cast shadows raytracing on smoth polys and displacement map irridance chaching should be round 80 or 90
i make no garuntees but it works for me that way

Looks like really splotchy AO

I'm inclined to agree with replicand. Is there AO set on any of your lighting?

I DO have AO in the scene. I have to admit I don't know much about it, except that it makes the lighting look better somehow.
Is there something I have to change in the AO settings?
LukeA: thanks for the link. Gives me a bit more understanding of the settings and what they do :o).
Thanks everyone for the help thus far.

Try the following settings and note any improvement:
Irradiance caching: 95 - 100
Pixel samples: 5 - 7
Min. shading rate: 0.2
Enable Smooth polygons and Use displacement maps.

You only need to enable use displacement maps if you are using them in the scene, otherwise it is a waste.

It looks like you are getting shadowing on all the cloth bumps , but odd patterns on the skin ?
turn ao off and see what happens

Well, according to that link that LukeA gave, you don't really NEED raytracing unless you've got a lot of reflections and refractions in your scene. I'd still like to get it to work tho.
Thanks everybody :o).

AO requires raytracing switched on, but it does not require any bounces.
It looks to me like your AO bias setting is too low. On a bumpy skin, this will produce self-shadowing.
Suggest change your scene AO settings to:
Samples: 8
Max distance: leave it as it is.
Bias: try 0.1 inches (the "inches" is important. If you don't use inches in Poser, you need to convert this value).
(edit) the "scene AO" options are on the light properties, in case you didn't know.
