Maybe it's cheap and nasty, but it can work...

You'll need to use your own stash of tech-type graphics.

The shader set-up is here:

HUD FX Poser 7 shader by ~ibr-remote on deviant[ART

I](http://www.deviantart.com) applied the shader to the Poser default Hi-res Square.

I personally don't like this set up.  The hex pattern is plug into Diffuse node which means it will be affected by the lights and shadows in the scene.   I would composite all my images together in Photoshop and then plug that image into the Alternate diffuse and transparency nodes.  I would also add a blender node between the texture and transparency nodes to aid fine tuning of the texture's transparency.

I agree with you chriscox; the shader arrangement does look odd.  Your solution seems much more logical.

I understand your version, chriscox. That would have been the alternative - using an external graphics editor. I was trying to avoid that. But yes, the alternate diffuse node can also be used on its own for the HUD effect.

 Re: notional Application example -

credit for the cylinder is D3D, not DDU.

Apologies.
