Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 06 7:01 am)
Cage is really not trying to be a turkeyhead. He will probably get pounced anyway though.
Directive Header Declarative ect ect.
Bjarne Stroustrup's is making C++0x.
& we are getting bigger n badder PC's.
I never like how any of the apps bent humans like metal.
phantom3D's rigs are kool
zBrush 3 has tranpose instead of rigs.

On the other hand, perhaps I don't know what I'm talking about and I don't know what I'm doing.
Shrugs.
Sorry to hear that...try adjusting the bone fall off and strength then you won't have to spend as much time weight mapping.
Quote - As I've mentioned to SM for years now, most Poser rigging problems could be helped a lot if they would just adopt a "normal" scale. Poser's scale is so tiny that most software won;t work well with poser figures at normal scale, so you're forced to scale figures up and down to model and morph. And as patorak mentions above, poser's internal math doesn;t seem to be up to handle the placement on figures as small as posers are so there are "rounding" errors that cause a lot of problems.
Actually internally poser "upscales" for rendering.. it has now I believe since poser 7's release.
Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.
humm, maybe for rendering I'll have to look at that, still the artifacting doens;t seem to indicate that much. I KNOW the scaling problem is still an issue with rigging and morphs. I've seen errors creep in during imports and rigging that can;t be explained any other way. Items that are perfectly aligned in modelling programs shift fractionally when imported into poser. I've gone as far as exporting a figure from poser importing it into a modeller (carrara) and exporting it and importing to poser without making any apparent change s to the model and found a minutre shift in position ( repeatable and the same shift in Silo so I have to believe it's a poser error).

"*The detractors just don't know rigging! They're blaming the tool instead of themselves!
See, Poser's rigging is joint envelope. Joint envelope rigging is an option available in many high end apps. Poser even has weight mapping, Thing is you have to use the mat sphere's to assign the values to the vertices instead of painting them like in high end apps.
Given this one should pre plan their figure accordingly."*
Personally, I find that I can derive a Blender skeleton from a Poser figure and get much better bending with that same setup using painted weights than I can using Poser's mat spheres, whether we call them joint envelopes or not. Painted weights allow for specified handling on a per-vertex level, where as Poser's mat spheres permit only approximate handling. I've fought with the mat spheres for several years now and never managed results in Poser which match those I can get in Blender, much more easily. Poser's joints just don't operate to the same standard.
On the other hand, perhaps I don't know what I'm talking about and I don't know what I'm doing.

Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking. He apologizes for this. He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.
Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below. His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.
