hello,
Is it possible to create vector graphics in photoshop elements 7? Im trying to create the outline for the hull of a boat to import into lightwave as a spline.
Ive had a look on the internet a bit for some tutorials on this but havnet really found much apart from some guy with a video tutorial who seemed disgusted that anyone would even ever need to know about such a thing, (i gave up on it after 2 minutes becuase he was so annoying).
But anyway, ideally i want a simple shape to be exported as a vector, so that it can be imported as a shape with points.
Any ideas, tutorials?

Hey there,
I haven't seen any in Photoshop making vector, but I know for sure you can use Paint Shop Pro - it has special feature to make vector images. ( I have checked both my old Photoshop and the new C4 - can't seem to find the vector either)
Kind regards

Damn, I dont really want to get paint shop pro to be honest, but if I have to I guess I have to, its pretty cheap nowadays anyway.
If i could export it out as an illustrator file that could work I guess, however the export option is grayed out in the "file" menu.
Thanks for your quick reply though :)

I use PSP v9 which I consider as the very best of them and you can save it as .psd which is Photoshop's file .. there is ca. 45 different kind of files so you should be able to get at least one to work .. hehe.. and I save most of my files as .psd or .png and can use them in any kind of graphic program. And yes PSP is cheap to day and is a great tool .. I k now many Photoshop user looks down on PSP heheheh.. but honestly it is a great program and can be used to so many things and the files can be converted to the other graphic programs I have (7 different kind).
Have fun and bee happy. (nice to meet a neighbor so to speak lol)
Kind regards

In Photoshop you can export paths to an Illustrator file (.ai). As for Photoshop Elements i'm not sure you can. It's been ages since I tried Photoshop Elements. Does it even have the pen tool?
CaptainJack1 posted Wed, 10 June 2009 at 6:28 PM
I checked my computer, and I've still got PE 6 installed. It has a text tool and a custom shape tool, which create vector objects, but it doesn't appear to have a pen tool or the ability to create paths. I also don't see any vector file formats, unless EPS saves vector info.
Paint Shop Pro can definitely do vector work, but I think the only vector formats it can save in is its own format (PspImage) or Photoshop. I've only got PSP 10, so it's possible that a newer version would have more save options.

Ok then I promise to speak English with you hehe.
I guess PSP6 is far too old then. PSP9 have it - and (just made an extra check ) amazing it is ... it can also save files .ai ;P
But take a look of what I found.

Pippin ... Those links are vector tutorials for Photoshop not Photoshop Elements which Rich stated he had. Photoshop & Photoshop Elements are two different animals.
PSP is an ok program for the price. PSP is definitely not in the same league as Photoshop. Do I look down on PSP? Hmmmm let's just say this old lady considers PSP a Fisher-Price software (toy version of the real thing).

yeah elements doesnt have the pen tool or export to path sadly,
has anyone heard of or got elements plus, thats supposed allow you export as a vector.
Is it worth getting?
The export option in PSE is greyed out for some reason, any ideas why?
