I avoided installingSP3 for XP for as long as i could because i read about problems with poser but the other day I had to install it finally and now that I have it is as I feared Poser 7 does not work properly. it hangs at the end of a render (no renders successfully completed since installation os XP SP3) and when I try to do something like delete lights.

Anyone know what the problem is with this damned thing? It is starting to irritate me because I have ideas I need to get out and I cant when i cant get a render done.

Could always try deleting your prefs and re-doing them, it is usual for corrupted prefs files to cause all sorts of weird problems.

Try looking in Appdata, it could be a hidden folder in there, I'm not familar with XP3.
It's in Appdata for Poser 7 with Vista.

in XP for Poser 7 your files are located in C:documents and settingsUSERapplication DataPoser 7

In Poser 6 and earlier they are in the program folder.

there should be poser.ini, libraryprefs.xml and ui xxxx prefs.xml where xxx is screen resolution

You can delete all of them if needed to reset poser back to tts install stage . You will need to add any external runtimes again if you delete libraryprefs.xml

I seem to have fixed it.
I went to general preferences under edit and reset it to open  as factory preset and  then it both allowed me to delete a light AND render to completion. Ill find out if it is really fixed when i  try a more complicated render tonight lol.

Thanks for the help everyone.

the path is

C:Documents and SettingsYourusernamehereApplication DataPoser 7

if you cannot see Application Data

open my computer, goto Tools, Folder Options, View then turn on "Show Hidden Files and Folders'

you will now be able to see the Application Data Folder.
