Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone could suggest a way to set up and light an underwater scene?
Thanks

i use a plain background, with inverted cloud planes to simulate light thro water etc.Experience is no substitute for blind faith.

Well you should definitely try and match the color of your light with that of the water..
Then it would help to put an infinite slab with a water texture, and have it surround your scene. the top of the slab will be your water surface, the bottom of it could be below the ocean floor.
Further more, water tends to be more murky then air, so the haze should be stronger.
Those should cover the basics i think.. the rest would be a matter of tweaking things to your liking.

AS I remember you sharing an underwater scene that you used Flaming Pear "Luce" filter for caustics. It was a free filter compatible with PSP and PS.

Ah, there it is.
I uploaded a simplified version of my "Ascent" scenefile for download.
It's mostly to be able to look at what I used to get murky water.

Dont believe a word he says. Its a conspiracy (back to the whole Matrix thing). Type his name, the computer network broadcasts to his bio-implant connected to his ear and he blinks his left eye and he's here.
believe me, Ive met the guy...and that hair is just meant to make you ignore all the wires coming out of his head.
