Subject: Poser 6 glitches developing

I use Poser 6 on a Mac and it has recently begun to act oddly.  At the top of the document window in the preview mode, the Figure and Parts arrows no longer work for selection.  No amount of clicking on them makes the slightest difference.  If I click on the actual figure, they change text but still are static.  The same thing for the parameter dial arrow and in the material room.  How do I fix this?  Do I need to reload the software?  Can that be done without losing all the stuff I have downloaded?  Does anyone have an idea WHY this happened so I can avoid future problems (assuming this can be fixed). I've included my computer specs and will admit my Poser file is currently 5.5 G. What can I say, I'm a shopaholic.  Hopefully someone has some helpful hints.  Thanks.

Whenever poser acts strangely for no apparent reason, it's usually because of a corrupted Prefs file.
Simply delete the Prefs files and re-do them, this is usually sufficient to stop all weirdness except for the need to spend!
If you need to know how to do this I have posted it many times in the forums, not sure if it's different for a MAC though!
If you can't find it here, search at Smith micro knowledge base using the term "Prefs" and it will find it.

I tried resetting the preferences to factory launch settings, re-opened Poser and it still won't let the pop-ups open in the document window or materials.  I'll check out your site to see if I missed a step.  Thanks for the info.

I'm not sure resetting to factory state will do it, Smith Micro recommend deleting them completely and letting poser rebuild them at the next launch, then do them to what you want.

I went to the SmithMicro site and followed their direction to delete the prefs but no luck in fixing the problems.  The document, properties and material window pull-down menus still don't function.  The Library window also has similar glitch.  If I click on the small text pull-down and scroll through the catagories, all the files in that particular area show up except for props.  That is stuck on primatives.  I can go through the upper headings and do the folder by folder route, but that's the only way to get to the props.

Since the prefs removal didn't work, any other ideas???  Thanks.

Sorry, with it being a MAC I wouldn't know of anything else.

If it was windows I'd suggest moving your runtime folder to somewhere else, deleting Poser completely including anything in the registry, then re-installing, deleting the new runtime that the install puts in and replacing it with the original that you kept.
I know this works in windows, never tried it on a MAC though!

One other thing, I'm taking it for granted that you have all the updates!

That's probably what I'll do.  I may give SmithMIcro's techies a shot but that sounds like what they'll say, too.  Thanks for all your time.
