Nicely done. It reminds me of toy I played when I was little. Don't know about y'all, but I'm really getting a kick out of seeing all the different interpretations of Point A to Point B. I'm also amazed by how much I learned doing such a simple exercise.

Geek, your English is better than a lot of people I know (here in the United States). Thanks for the tutorial, I'm off to check it out right now. --Terri

That was quick ! Thanks Geek :) Very ingenuous process ! I would never thought of that ... And there are nice pics on your site, too ! The Fort Boyard series are great ... i remember that TV game show that took place in it, and its crappy music :"Taaa Ta Ta Ta Tata Tatatatataaaaa !" With dwarves running everywhere, tigers and all that . Kinda surreallistic ! A lot of fun in my young age ! Do you have that show in Germany (i assume you're from Germany)? Back to your animation : you cheated, you used three keyframes ! But what the hey, you learned something, that's the most important ! ;) litst

Hey, three is still pretty darn economical, considering the results he got, so I'm prepared to overlook it. Heh. Besides, he revived a fond childhood memory, so what's an extra keyframe between friends? Which reminds me: Use as many key frames as you want on the blinking eye challenge. I think I'm going to use three, although one could probably use two, and add a reverse sequence to the gif. Neat opening graphic on your web page, Geek. I don't have much 3D on my web page (which I hope to change in the near future), but if anyone wants to see my sparse offerings, stop by at the link above.twillis posted Sat, 21 April 2001 at 9:49 PM
By the way, Litst, isn't it past your bedtime?

Geek, just checked out your tutorial. Neat technique. I think you meant to say "Cube" instead of "Cylinder", but the pictures make the approach very clear. Nice job. Also, a similar trick could also be used for - you guessed it - a blinking eye! Or a squinting one. Add a slightly smaller sphere, and maybe something more like a hemisphere, instead of the three quarter sphere for the upper eyelid. I'm off to give it a try, except I'll have to build my sphere parts in the vertex modeler; the boolean function tends to crash my computer. --Terri

@ list: 1. Yes we have such a tv show here. 2. I didn't cheat, you say, i have to use 2 keys for moving from A to B. There are 2 key's (A-B) for moving and 3 (A-AB-B) for rotationg @ twills: Yes, you right, it should mean Cube instead of Cylinder, but i fix it allready.

Very clever approach. And I agree with Terri -- this is great. It is amazing how much you can learn from simple exercises. (For me, just learning how to assemble animated gif's has been worth it all!) - Chip
