The problem is when i load them into the scene, only one of the characters responds to the rotation and translation tool.. the other one doesn't move no matter what. Is this some kind of bug or, did this happen because i saved them to the libraries as a Parented Character( parented to the cube).
Here is a picture of my Character group. It's James and V3 and then the cubes that serve as parents. One white cube is parent of James, one white cube is parent of V3 and the dark cube is parent of both cubes. I can't move V3 with nothing not even with dials. but I can move James normally.

ok, i just discovered that i can't even move James!!!
I can move james feet but not his upper body. that's weird. And i even saved a version with no parent Cubes. still doesn't work
I"m wondering if this is happening because i turned off the PMD ( Use Extenral ....in Preferences).
I actually think that's whats making this happen. i'll do some tests

I can't move them at all!! what's going on.
So i tried deleting the parent cubes, and then using the Restore Figure command.. but i got nothing. The only thing that happend is the feet went to x0, y 0 z 0.
So you think it's not a good idea to save Character Groups( some characters parented to one character) to libraries?

OK Update guys!!!
I fixed it!!!
One of the things I did was Turn On the USE External Binary morph targets in the preferences. People had told me not to do it but i gotta test it and it seems it makes everything better.
For example what i did now is load my CharacterGroup from the libraries on to the scene. I tested moving a characters arm, and i couldn't at all. The other character was fine. So what i did is delete the character that i can't move .. and reload a new copy of v3 and put her in her place..clothed her, and apply any morphs so she looks exactly like the v3 that was there.
Then test her, and i can move her freely now cause she's a fresh v3 copy. Then i set her parent to the cube. Then i saved the file into the libraries again.
You know how long it took to save now that i have USE EXTERNAL BINARY MORPH TARGETS on? It took less than 20 seconds. versus 3 minutes it would take when i had UEBMTargets OFF.
Well, so then i proceeded with an empty scene and i wanted to test if the Character group i saved in the libraries works? I loaded the new character group: one jamese clothed, one v3 clothed.. Using the translation tool i tried to move the arm of the v3 in the group and NOW IT MOVES!!!!!
So
there are two possible reasons as to why i couldn't move the characters:

James, i moved his body.. and only his torso didn't move.
tebop posted Sat, 04 July 2009 at 1:12 PM
Before i clothed him, he moved fine. But after i clothed him, only his bottom half moves.
I think i know why. Before i deleted the james that was there and loaded a new james, the previous james had already been clothed and parented to the base cube.
So, the clothes have some data about that in them. So what i have to do to fix this is easy.
All i have to do is reload the clothes and reconform it

Why save everything into your library palette when you could simply save the scene? What you are doing does not make sense.
tebop posted Sat, 04 July 2009 at 2:33 PM
Actually it makes sense.
I'm doing crowds. And i don't want to populate the whole scene and save it with 100 characters . impossible.
But with saving groups of 2, i can then load crowd groups of 2 into my scene to set them up in relation to the ground and camera( camera angles etc) . Then i can make A transparent movie with only the 2 crowds for use in Final cut .. THEN i can put the crowd group as a layer either in front of the character or behind it. You see, there's a point to what i'm doing.
Also by grouping them i can put 2 together. instead of having to position one character, cloth him.. Then load another one and try to find where the other one is so i can put him next to it.
Grouping characters and saving them to the libraries is useful.

Now I understand. As a matter of interest, how are you saving them as?
