Can it be that some texture maps are not found and therefore are stripped out? This would explain the effect.

Hey Wabe. No texture maps, just a native procedural material. 100% reflective (or so) Light grey Diffuse color. I also have the darndest time getting Vue chrome to reflect the ambient environment of a spectral model sky.

Is it possible to have a hand on this? To understand what is going on. Right now it is a difficult.

2) So this is a Vue 7 infinite procedural?
Poser usually has mad settings, like the highlights might be -560% or the other way around and that totally whacks ot the material until sorted!
The mapping for an imported model should never be "World Standard" unless there's a specific reason for it.
Should always be Object or Parametric mapping.
can you post settings of the OTHER parts of the material's tabs please (Color&ALpha, Bump, etc), to see if there's a problem in them, and also in the material function editor?
Have you tried copying and pasting the material onto a sphere or such to check if it's the material or the model which is broken?

Hello Silverblade33.
1.) PC (Vista)- Vue 7.1 something.
2.) Vue Procedural. A native material from the metals library called chrome, but any material with reflection has this problem.
3.) mapping is parametric
see enclosed.

Only version 7.1? why no later updates?! :)
Hm your atmosphere settings are odd, but recreating them in 7.5 infinite I don't have any problem even so (though I can't adjust "Light colour" due to changes in version),sodoubt it's the atmosphere setting.
why on earth is it showing black even in the preview window?! eyebrows arch to top of his cranium! :P
Weird!!!
Does it always show like that, black, or only sometimes asyou note? Does it occur after you've had Vue running a long while? or, if you have a laptop...could it be overheating?
puzzling though posisbilities
try making a new scene with a default atmopshere
make a sphere
edit the material, right click, RESET material so it should be a grey
edit reflectivity, set to 70%, does that work ok?
if it does work ok, and if your older materials don't work ok consistantly, maybe the old materials have been corrupted?
sorry best I can think of at the moment :/
OR
wonder if it's a fault witht he display settings? does it occur if you turn off "Enable Background Draw" ?
:)

I had the same problem it was infuriating basically it would only let me have 2 of my 3 chrome spheres reflective at any time and when I tried to make the 3rd reflective one of the others would lose reflection.... I ended up changing the material of one to glass or something like that. Doing a small render, saving then loading up again changing it back to chrome and it now works fine! Vue does some very weird things ....My eyebrows almost fall off my head sometimes I am that puzzled!

Maybe you have "force use of reflection map" ticked in the render options ?
I had this issue WAY back in Vue 4 Pro, and this was the fix.
