Okay, so I'm not tremendously computer-savvy and it looks like I'm going to have to replace my computer.  I'm thinking about a 64-bit operating system (Windows 7) and somebody brought to my attention that some apps won't operate under a 64-bit system.

Does anyone know if I would (or might) have any problems running Poser 7 on a 64-bit OS?

thanks,
h5

no problems with Windows 7 64bit and Posers 5/6/7/Pro that I've found so far.

I run Poser 7 on Windows Vista Ultimate 64-Bit and have not had any problems with it.

Thanks for the info, folks.

Anybody import PoserPro figures into new Autodesk Maya and use the native Poser rigging in the Maya environment as advertised?  Is that really working?

(I know... start a new thread if you want an answer)

Poser 7 ran fine under the Windows 7 betas!

That's great news.  That and the Windows 7 news.

Stick in at least 8 Gig of RAM, makes everything so much easier!

Been using 64 bit for 2 years, no issues with any software. [Vista Ultimate 64]

What about Vista issues?  Are there known issues between Poser 7 and Vista (Home x64)?

Poser was working for a day, with occasional immediate-upon-loading crashes.  Now it's crashing as soon as I try to move the camera around a figure...  Boooo!

Anyone know of  any issues I should be looking at or addressing?

Video Driver - scuttlebutt says M$ update rolls it back. get the latest and try that.

I was running Poser 7 on Vista 64bit with no problems for months, then when I installed Girl4 it broke.
Uninstall re-install made no difference, I find that up to 4.0 mil figures work ok but 4.1 and above breaks it.
No idea why and so now I have gone back to Poser 6.

I checked and indeed there was a later driver for my video card, installed it but it changed none of the issues I'm encountering...

That said, I've discovered that if I move the camera on an empty workspace before loading a figure it seems to be able to continue.  Weird and dumb, but workable.

check your preview settings
Poser has settings for hardware / software OpenGL. changing that round can stop crashes...

also what card are you using?

heiro5 posted Fri, 14 August 2009 at 5:50 PM

Switched that setting back and forth.  Crashed it immediately, now it has quit crashing.  Go figure, but at least it's in the good way...

The video card is an Nvidia GeForce GT 130M.
