ive got a problem and realy need some help.

ive made a large image with lots of freestuff from various sites and exported everything as an OBJ file for use with Vue , i included exact file/group names in that file im sure. Ive done this a few times but this is the first time ive come across this problem.

now, nearly everything ive used apart from the charecters themselves will not load from the poser menu (props and charecter). the item is present but will not show in the working screen or render, making me think of a missing geometry path.

Can this OBJ file be confussing poser?
if so, if i delete it, will all the missing paths go back?
has any one else had this prob?

i dont think any screen prints that will help the problem ive got as it dosent seem to be a poser prob it knows as a prob.

any help on this will be greatly appreciated,

If the new OBJ has the same name as any existing OBJ file in some other folder,
Poser will get confused.

Give it a brand-new and preferably weird name, and then see if the problem continues.

I don't know if this is a good idea.  If any material selections are named the same between the different objects in the scene, then it is likely that Vue will not texture them properly after importing.  There also may be a limit on how many material selections can be interpreted on Vue's OBJ importer for a single object.  Can't Vue open a saved Poser scene file?

why not save it as a PZ3 file and open it directly - saves a whole lot of hassle

i couldnt save it as a pz3 as i had to put it to my new pc that dosnt have poser at mo, but ive got  vue working on it as its a smaller program.

Ive still got to transfer over near a whole hard drive of poser stuff (250ish gigs) to a quad core on vista64 from a xp that wont talk to a vista so im having to use a usb key to pass full saved inventory files and OBJ to the other, this is where the prob has come from.

so if i delete the OBJ file that i used to pass to my other pc, will poser find the original geo files?

If you saved the geometry file inside the poser/runtime/folder and it is the same name as anothe rgeometry file then it may cause problems. I would export geometry to your my Documents folder and use a descriptive folder name .

If poser is not loading stuff from its libraries thats another problem. I would restart Poser and try again.

There is a Poser Python script in Scripts->Utility called collectSceneInventory which collates everything in a scene to a folder of your choosing. It should save a .pz3, the obj files and textures, all referenced properly in that folder.
