I just saw a really cool video on the differences between blender 2.5 and 2.49 on CG Cookie http://www.cgcookie.com/articles/blender-25-overview

Although the builds are still preliminary and they still don't have all the functionality of the final release you can download the software here http://www.graphicall.org/builds/ to try it out.

Wow! This looks like it may attract a lot more users. I'm excited to try it..

I have downloaded the preliminary 2.5 build. Am I missing something or are the developers lost in space?

I was most looking forward to unifying the interface - I want the application to adapt to the user rather than the other way round.

On the options you can now choose "left mouse button select" and "middle button rotate".

and THAT's IT?

How about further customisations? ALT-LMB for rotate etc?

Will there be more in the final release or are the UI customisation options really that limited?

Now would be a great time to send some feedback to the blender community. Let them know what your concern is; it might affect how the final build is constructed.

Can someone, please, direct me to the need Specs to get Blender 2.5 running at it's best?

We're updating the office computer (FINNALY) and I need it to be ready for the update.
Thanks in advance. ;)

At this point they haven't released final specs. This is just a preview not the final release. They haven't even released a date for when 2.5 will be finished.
