Sometimes conforming hair can show artifacts in the form of thin lines appearing in the wrong area. That is the sign of a UV map that is out of boundary. Here is a tutorial that shows you how to fix the problem using the Blender. Of course the technique shown can be used in general to update UV maps for all kind of uses.
